How to Get Rid of Stress and Get Your Life Back

Updated on May 9, 2014

As strange as it might sound for somebody who isn't aware of this, stress is considered to be one of the biggest problems humanity has in the 21st century (and probably it will be a long while until it will completely vanquish). And if you consider stress to be something good, something any modern human being should accept and ignore, then you are completely wrong!

That is because stress is the main cause of a ton of health problems and behavioral problems and stress management techniques are required in order to keep your stress levels at minimum in order to make sure that you actually get to experience life at its fullest. Because, yes, as scary as this might seem, stress is a silent killer and can cause a lot of severe health problems!

Bad stress and problems that follow

Although I won't enter into a higher level of detail talking about different types of stress (there are many, including workplace stress, post-traumatic stress and so on), I will list some of the most important health problems stress can cause:

- reduce your body's immune system (the capacity of your body to battle disease and/or viruses)

- development of heart diseases and other circulatory problems

- development of hipertension

- psoriazis

- and there are much more but not as dangerous effects stress can have on the human body!

So I guess that this is enough to make you sit back for a little while and understand that, if you are dealing with stress, you are having a big problem and you should try to solve it as fast as possible. Fortunately, I am here to share with you a few quick tips on how to manage stress and try to get rid of it and you should not ignore this advice!

Stress relief techniques

Fortunately, there are many ways to reduce stress and even to completely "cure" it, even though when it comes to curing stress it's the source, the problem that it's causing it that has to be eliminated first in order to treat the symptoms.

Here is a list of stress relief techniques and tips on how to get rid of stress:

  1. Probably the most important rule of them all is to get enough sleep. Our human body needs sleep to regenerate its cells and in order to keep us healthy and a tired body reacts poorly to stress and basically everything else. So make sure that you get enough sleep!
  2. Use stress relief exercises: try performing some aerobics while inhaling fresh air, do yoga, go for a walk (or, better, jogging) or go and swim. However, it is very important here not to force your body: you don't want to lose weight or get riped, you need to relax. So make sure you keep the intensity to medium levels at most otherwise you only manage to make things worse!
  3. Use meditation as a stress relief technique: there are 4 types of meditation to get rid of stress and they're probably some of the most useful types of stress relief techniques. So give them a try and if you want to find out more, click the link to learn about stress relief through meditation.
  4. Listen to music. Every person has a specific type of music that relaxes him or her and that's the music you should listen to. Important here is to simply sit back, relax and enjoy your music and not do something else in the meantime. Another important thing here is not to force yourself to listen to something others say it's relaxing - if hardcore rock has a relaxing effect on you, then that's what you have to listen!
  5. Eat healthy. Not only that your stress levels will decline if you eat healthy (you need a solid dose of calcium, magnesium and vitamins to battle stress), but you will feel better and have a lot more energy throughout the day. If for some reasons you can't eat healthy, at least make sure that you take food supplements: calcium, magnesium and vitamins.
  6. Laugh as often as possible: read jokes, listen to jokes, hang out with funny people, watch movies - do anything that makes you laugh as much as possible. A good laugh has amazing effect on one's morale and general well being so that should be your goal: at least one good laugh per day to take the stress levels away.

Conclusion

Getting rid of stress is really not the easiest thing to do in the modern world where the economic problems are still here, where we have kids that we must send to college and mortgage to pay... however, if we overstress ourselves, we will lose more than win because a sick person is not capable of achieving as much as a healthy one.

So make sure you give yourself time, don't overwork yourself and pay attention to the stress relief exercises and tips I gave you above to live a stress free life. You owe that to you!
