How to Lose Weight Fast and Easy Successfully

Updated on March 2, 2010

There is so much controversy about the best way to lose weight. What is fast? What is effective? What leads to permanent weight loss? There are so many diet plans out there.

Everywhere you look, there is a weight loss method claiming that you will drop weight quickly and easily by taking a pill, drinking a shake or following a prepared food plan. But, if we look at the statistics, most of the weight one might lose using any of these methods is gained back within a year. Often, people wind up weighing more at the end of a year than they were before they started the diet.

The answer to this issue is that there really is no way to lose weight fast and easy. There is no magic pill or cure for excess weight.

The answer is really simple. If you are serious about losing weight, you need to incorporate lifestyle changes – sometimes major ones. If you are someone who has major changes to make, you may want to take small steps to ultimately attain your goal of permanent weight loss and improvement to your health. Making small changes over time will lead to big success.

The most important lifestyle changes to consider are the eliminations of foods that are just plain bad for you. A good initial small step would be to stop going to fast food restaurants. Fried foods and heavily processed foods are horrible for our health. Eliminating them is a great first step.

Replace the fast foods with more whole foods. Stay away from as many packaged foods as possible. A good rule of thumb is the rule of 5. If a product has more than 5 ingredients, don’t buy it. Another good rule is to avoid products that contain ingredients you cannot identify. If you don’t know what it is, how do you know what it is doing to your health?

When shopping for groceries, shop the perimeter of the supermarket. Focus on whole foods: fruits, vegetables, whole grains and some cold water, wild caught fish such as salmon. The purer the food, the better it is for your health - the more nutrient rich.

Sorry to break the news, but you need to know the truth. How to lose weight fast and easy? There is no way. But, rest assured, if you follow the advice in this article, you will benefit with improved health and weight loss – these are benefits that you cannot ignore.
