Overcoming social media addiction is important because it is eating away our precious time. We are losing productivity and creativity which could be used for great ventures instead! Apart from this we seem to be connected to the world, but we are disconnected in our interpersonal relationships.

The steps that need to be followed in order to overcome this addiction involve will power, self-control and an understanding of the benefits of controlling it.

"Connected but Disconnected"

The benefits

1. You will have more time for self care.

Self-care should be a mandatory thing to do in a routine. Start your morning regime with a glass of water instead of checking the new messages that you receive on WhatsApp or Facebook. Hydrating consistently regulates our hormones, makes the skin glow and keeps infections at bay. Moisturize your skin in a consistent way and stay groomed to delay ageing.

2. Warm interpersonal relationships.

When we are hooked up to the phone, we often ignore the surrounding people. Most importantly, we need to talk to our children on a regular basis to maintain the compassion and trust in the relationship. By this they feel emotionally safe and free to share their concerns and worries and this could prevent them from many troubles.

3. Wellness

Being in front of the screen all day can make our life style stagnant and sedentary. This leads to even more resistance to physical activity. When we take out time for workout and do it religiously, it promotes our health and immunity.

4. Better productivity

Social media may be a good tool to remain updated, but it's a distraction at work, unless your profession is related to it. Avoiding it increases concentration to do tasks.

5. Less strain

Anti-glare glasses protect from the beams from the display but not from the strain that you experience by focusing vision on a fixed distance. So your eyes will thank you!

Real world has more dimensions than the digital world can ever have!

Steps to De-Addiction

1. Cultivate a belief that you will be good without it.

Our fears generally stop us from taking risks for achieving great accomplishments. Don't be afraid of being left behind or the fear that you won't be cool anymore. You can accomplish many tasks with your creativity and talent and give an outlet for your passion.

2. De-Clutter

Remove all the unnecessary applications and software from your gadgets to be away from useless notifications.

3. Choose a distraction free environment

Avoid studying in your bedroom, TV room or any noisy place. Our mind isn't programmed to multi-task. If possible, keep your devices out of reach and on silent-mode.

4. Set up a time for networking.

Fix slots in a day in which you would be checking up on the updates from your networks. Besides, there is no necessity to upload each and every activity on the network. Learn to enjoy "just the moment" and not the "likes" on the same!

5. Do more outdoor activities apart from workout or playing.

Go to the grocery store to buy things instead ordering them online at a surcharged price. Save time of browsing and eye straining and money as well.

6. Have patience

Do the above steps at least 21 days in a row. Habits take time to form and even a longer period to get rid off. So be patient and keep working towards improvement.

NIVEA Creme Body, Face and Hand Moisturizing Cream for All Skin Types, Rich Body Moisturizer with Provitamin B5, 13.5 Oz Tin
I love this cream and it has been my companion since I was 17. It's suitable for all skin types and is super hydrating! The box that it comes in is very handy and you can keep it in our hand bag easily. Use it at least twice a day for the best results, preferably after cleansing your face and hands. The most amazing thing about this cream is that it's pocket friendly as well. One con though! you might like to avoid it on the face if you have super oily skin!
