Science has been evolving since ages. Humans have discovered the wonders of science and how can it be applied to life. We all are aware how amazingly have great scientists contributed towards multiple discoveries. Almost everything on this planet as well as in the space is explained by scientific theories. There might be very few things related spiritually which science could not have explained. But still the researches will always be going on for finding the purpose behind everything. So today let us see how simple science theories can be applied for betterment of our mental health and personal growth.

National Science Day

In India, National Science Day is celebrated on 28 February each year on occasion of the discovery of Raman effect by great Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman. Every year on this day many schools and colleges conduct programmes inorder to create awareness about science. At various places, different kinds of small experiments were done to explain concepts of laws of physics to the children thus making them understand the same.

1) Law of Universal Gravitation

Law of Gravity was proposed by Sir Isaac Newton when he thought upon the reason behind apple falling on the ground. This law explains about the force of attraction between two objects in space. As per the equation, force of attraction is directly proportional to masses of the objects and inveresely proportional to square of distance between those objects. Now how can it be applied for our mental health?

The more stress we carry, the higher is the likelihood of attraction to mental health issues like anxiety, depression and panic disorders. Hence it is important to lighten up your burden of work and problems in life by finding solutions to the same. Talking about the distance, higher the distance lesser is the force of attraction. It is important to keep toxic and negative people away. When you keep th away you attract better and health mental state.

2) Like Repels, Unlike Attracts

This is one of the most important principle in magnetism. The like poles of two magnets when kept together always repel how much ever you try to join them. Whereas on the other hand, the unlike poles will always attract even if they are small distance apart.

What does this teach you? Compatible people are usually those who have opposite kind of personalities. For example, if we consider a couple, introvert and extrovert will make a perfect match. Similarly when it comes to our depressive moments, we often spend time being alone, listening to sad songs and staying aloof from the crowd. But it needs to be the other way round. To cheer up and feel happy, songs with fast beats, loud tone are to be heard and spending time with people at such times is important.

Do what you don't feel like doing and see the difference in your feelings!

3) Archimedes Principle

We all know about the story of Archimedes when he discovered his 'Eureka' moment. He found out that when a bucket is full of water and if you drop something in it, the volume of water that spills out is same as that of the object dropped inside it.

This teaches you one of the most important lesson. For anything better to enter in our lives, it is necessary to remove off something which is toxic. We feel sad when we lose someone we love but we need to realize that God has better plans for us and he is creating a space in our life for a better person to enter. So let us accept the new change delightfully.

4) Evolution- Survival of Fittest

Darwin says that those species which are fit to survive on this planet do survive whereas the other eventually become extinct. If you wish to develop yourself in a skill, you need to consistent enough to practice it otherwise eventually you forget it. This can also be taken as when you keep your sad, grief and depressed emotions consistent, they are more likely to stay. On the other hand, if you try keeping your joyful and happy emotions and feelings they are going to manifest more. Think about it!

5) Inertia- We resist the Change

Newton's first law of motion which is 'Law of Intertia' says that a body remains in the state of rest or in the state of motion unless displaced by an external force. If there is no external force acting upon that object, it will stay at the same place. 'Status Quo' is something we all dwell in. We do not like changes happening around us. But somewhere we all fail to understand that we all need to accept that change, live through it and move ahead in life. Movement is necessary and at the same time, taking a pause is necessary as well. There are going to be external things happening around you which may change you as a person. And hence embrace the new people, their behavior, their lifestyle and finally embrace the amazing change in yourself too.

Change is the only constant

6) Hooke's Law

Hooke's law states that strain is directly proportional to the applied stress within its elastic limit. Considering an example, if a mass is attached to a string, the string will elongate. If we increase the mass or tie a bigger object, the string will keep on elongating until it breaks off.

If we want to make sure that our mental health is sound, it is important to reduce the stress on our mind. The stress can be due to people or due to work. Our patience, physical and mental health is stretched too much if we keep adding burden of painful stress to ourselves. It is importance to know the difference between good and healthy stress and painful stress.

7) Conservation of Energy

This is one of the most crucial of all laws. In physics and chemistry, this law states that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. It can only be converted from one form to another. Being emotional over the things going wrong in our life is going to waste our energy in grieving about it. Rather than that we can invest our energy in finding solutions to those unsolved problems.

When we experience the death of our loved ones, it feels like being one of the most painful experiences. But if we consider this science law, the soul has just left the body and taken another form. The soul can neither be created nor can it be destroyed. So it will make us feel good thinking that somewhere in some form our loved ones are still present.

Conclusion

When we use science everywhere in our daily life, why not go a little ahead and use it for our own mental health healing as well. If every person realizes that science is not only present physically but lso mentally, we all will have a sound mental well being.
