Why Am I still eating ?

You are at home, sitting at your table, scrolling through a website, everything is normal. And then you realize that you are eating chips or biscuits but you are not even hungry and you keep eating. Aren't finger food sneaky ? You don't even notice them going to your mouth.

We have all been there. Here are a few tips to stop overeating and maybe lose a few pounds. Well, let's face it, we are losing them because of eating more than our body can process.

Stop Buying Junk Food

Supermarkets are designed to make you buy stuff that you do not plan to buy in the first place. Look at the shelves just before you reach the till. Studies showed that the customer usually does not think about buying gums or chocolate bars when they enter the shop. But while being in line, they feel compelled to get that little article in their cart or basket. "It's just a few dollars."

Same thing with the end of shelves sales : buy one, get one free. You think you save money ? Well, it was not on your list so you spent more than expected.

When going grocery shopping, make a list and stick to it. Do not give in to the smart psychological sales !

Distract Yourself

Sometimes, you eat without even realizing it. It is an habit that occupies your hand and your mouth even though you do not feel hungry. Get a ball, a stressing ball and play with it. If you don't like that, you can also take a pen and a piece of paper and write, draw or doodle. Find something you like doing and just stick to it. Your mind will stop unconsciously bring food to your mouth.

Have you ever noticed that you usually eat when you are bored ? Another way to distract yourself, among stopping buying junk food, is to get away from it. When you feel a craving, go out for a walk, call a friend, start making dinner.

Change Your Relationship to Food : Start Cooking

Food is something that everyone needs to live. There is nothing better than a good homemade meal that you can share with friends and family. There are plenty of healthy and delicious recipes that are easy to cook.

You think that since it is not worth cooking if it is only for you ? There is no such thing as not enough people to cook for. You can put your leftovers in boxes and freeze them for another meal. You save time cooking and also some money !
