Is It Ever Too Late To Change Your Life Around

Updated on September 26, 2011

So many people I know, and including myself, have said, "is it ever too late to change your life around?" Many of us are happy with our lifestyle, but really would like it to be more, but we are afraid to make any kind of move to change our life for the better.

Many of us are so miserable with our lives, but still don't want to do anything about it to change. We think, well this is my life and I just have to live with it, and that is not true at all.

I am living proof that anyone can change their life around for the better only if you have it in your heart to make your life better. A better life will not come to you without some effort on your part.

This is my 256th hub on HubPages and have written many more on other sites regarding the following:

  • How to think and act positive in your life.
  • Living life sober.
  • How to find Happiness and Fulfillment in your life.
  • How to live a simple life and still be happy.

These are just a few things I write about regarding yours and my life in general and how you and I can make our lives worth every bit of what we deserve in life.

Change is great and to be able to change your life for the better is just awesome. For me, i had lived through a life of alcoholism and thought to myself, "I will never get out of this addiction I live in." After many years of being addicted to alcohol it finally dawned on me that life is so precious and I am wasting it on my addiction. I thought, what can I do to make my life worth living for?

Lets see, a better life is out there , but how must I get it? The one way and only way is to go for it yourself and not let anything or anyone stand in your way of achieving that life you well deserve.

As we all know and have heard, "Life is all that you make it" and if you are satisfied with the way you are living yours and don't want a better life, then I guess as they say, "This is your Life".

Well, for myself I had dreams and goals I wanted to achieve before I got too old or possibly get poor health or dying do to my addiction to alcohol. So what I did was make the first move and that was to surrender to my addiction first and foremost, Secondly, I then go my thoughts together and started my plan to live a healthier and happier life and doing this completely sober.

I never thought in a million years I would be able walk away from my addiction like I did. I was determined I wanted a life not only for myself, but my wife and children as well. This is what you must do in order to achieve a better life for yourself.

Determination and the willingness to change is the ticket to your happiness, at least it was for me. Pure determination is what I had, and with that I achieved my dreams and goals I once had, but didn't do anything about it to achieve them, do to my addiction to alcohol that was standing in my way of everything I had in my heart that I wanted out of life.

Now sober the world is mine. I call the shots now, not my addiction. I have complete control of my life and now. I can wish for things and I can make them happen.

The point to this hub is to tell everyone that wants a better life, but are sitting on their butts waiting for it to happen and get better with no work on your part, I can assure you it will not happen like that.

Like I said, if I can do it, so can you. Put your mind to it. Keep a positive attitude telling yourself you can and will make a better life for yourself and your family, and when thinking this way and having the drive, it will happen, believe me.

Best of luck to all those that want to change their lives for the better.

@ Aficionada - You are very welcome and I am glad you enjoyed the read. You are so right, it is never too late to change your life in any area, not only in an addiction. It goes for everything in life. All you have to do is want it bad enough to make that change. Thank you for your comment :)

Also true in other areas of life besides addictions. Many people need to find the determination to overcome bad habits of all kinds. Thanks for sharing your story, and thanks for the inspiration!

Very inspiring hub since your own life is proof that it's never too late to change your life around, even if one suffers from alcoholism.
