Is It Necessary To Meditate - You Decide

The hours of the day go by quite easily when I am writing and reading, and that is how I would like the rest of my life to be.

It has been amply demonstrated by researchers that people who practice meditation regularly are less stressed, less prone to illnesses and do not need to look for rest and breaks while they work.

Meditation Is Sublime

This fact by itself should be reason enough for anyone to want to meditate. In addition, the meditation process itself is sublime. The act of meditation does not depend on the result, but when you meditate, you are in a state of bliss, and in a state of contentment. The awareness of the tranquility that does come with meditation starts as soon as you start practicing meditation, even while you are learning the techniques. Training for meditation has no beginning and no end, the means you use for meditating become an end in itself.

Cleanse Your Mind

Every person in today's fast-moving world is subjected to various degrees of stress. It can come from the constant need to travel where you cannot control the beginning and end of a journey. Noise from traffic, people talking, crowds, television can add to the stress. Pollution, getting into arguments or disagreements and having to confront people who are angry greatly add to the stress. This force of negativity is often quite overwhelming, and here is where meditation can act to connect to the higher power that we all have within us, that allows us to cleanse our minds and thoughts and tap into the energy that is enlightening.

Getting Back to Nature

Our ancestors had the advantage of always being surrounded by nature, even while they went about their daily routines and rituals. They were surrounded by the hum of the wind, the sound of water, the beauty of nature, the sky, the trees and plans and even the scent of the earth. Their connection to all these bounties of nature had a soothing effect on their minds. The climate we live in nowadays is artificial and most of us are totally divorced from nature, its origins and the easy pace of life that was always in tune with nature.

Meditation Is Portable

Meditation is a method that can allow us to get in touch with our natural rhythms. It is a method that has a high portability and can be practiced anywhere, even on the move. What you need to be able to do, is to close out the world or environment around you, clear the mind of all thoughts, and relax your body completely. It costs nothing and will never have any side effects. It can have no effect on your body, so there is no need to worry about things like calories and cholesterol. It is not addictive like alcohol and drugs, though practitioners of meditation will always feel compelled to meditate when confronted with stressful situations.

Meditation can be different things to different people. People find it helps them to work, to perform in sports, increase the memory and many other mental functions. It can help to deal with grief and to get back to life after any trauma. Creative people use it for inspiration. Decide why you need it, and learn to meditate. Who knows, it may prove very useful.
