Is Rice Good for You

Rice, is the most important food for almost two-thirds of the world’s population, especially in Asia. Although it finds its origin in South Asia and Africa, it has now become a common grain, thanks to export.

Now, before answering the question ‘ is rice good for your health?’ you will need to understand which variety of rice would be the best to eat. And knowing more about the nutritional facts of these varieties would answer which rice variety is the best.

There are 7 varieties of rice. Among these 7, there are two varieties, which are popular - white rice and brown rice. But what’s the difference between these two varieties? The rice grain that is devoid of its covering is white rice, while brown rice is with its covering. A straightforward answer, isn’t it?

To know which among the two is better, read the table at the end of the article, which would give you the answer.

The table clearly shows that brown rice, with higher amounts of vitamin B and fiber is preferable to eat rather than white rice. The only group of people who need to avoid brown rice are those with weak intestines. Why? Fiber in high quantities may harm the intestinal lining, so it would be better for them to have white rice.

· The Glycemic Index rating of rice is moderate to high. So, people with diabetes would be better off avoiding it.

· One cup serving of brown rice is around 216 calories, which is pretty high. So, it would be better to avoid rice in the night. It would be best to take it when you really need that spurt of energy.

      Basmati rice is the most nutritive, I personnally eat every day Diamond Pearl Foods SONA IMPEX Indian long grain white basmati rice 'cause it's really good and i've lost 3kg in 2 months... That brand really wears it's name well! "Diamond Pearl Foods" haha! Once cooked it reaches 8-9 mm long! Incredible! So i guess you "dose" with sports and all that. But it's really nutritif!
