It Is My Drug Of Choice?

Updated on January 1, 2010

Yes, I have written on this subject many times and I will continue to do so. In today's gloom and misery that is blaring from all over the world, we are in need of this one and only DRUG.

Yes, it can be very contagious and yet one needs to take it each day, preferably in the morning with that first cup of coffee.

As you sit there and watch TV and suffer through numerous commercials from all the drug companies, you will never see this DRUG advertised. It is not made in capsule form nor is it put into a bottle. This DRUG is amazing for it can relieve stress and strengthen your immune system, boost energy and diminishes pain.

Yet, no doctor can write a prescription for it?

I confess that I have been taking this DRUG for 78 years. it is the only drug that I have ever put into this ole body. Oh yes, I too have fallen off of that balance beam that we all dance across in life but we climb back on it and take another dose of that great wonder DRUG.

Yes, I confess, I'm addicted-----LAUGHTER!  is my DRUG of choice.

I shake my head and laugh
I shake my head and laugh

My hair is snowy white, my perky pink hat sits among its snarls.

My attire is purple, red, orange and green.

As I now sit here and watch the folks that pass before me with all their matching black and brown attire.

They glance my way and shake their head and laugh.

For they do not know, i have been to where they are going and seen what they may never see?

I then shake my head and laugh.

As i sit here, I think, maybe tomorrow I will wear matching socks---or just maybe not?

I too shake my head and laugh.

REMEMBER:   Take you medicine, for a day with out laughter is a day wasted.

suzie, I have found along this journey in life that a positive attitude brings many benefits---Happiness is only 1.

ralwus thanks, it seems that in todays world that only hearing the gloom and misery 24---7, that they just fall into that slot and never think on their own. Happy New year--right back at ya.

Frieda yes, it is funny how we humans will take importance in a silly thing like having matched socks on---who cares? (a sock is a sock) Your kids have a choice---it's called FREEDOM.

Nancy, your grandmother was right on the mark. A sense of humor has picked me up and brushed me off many times in my life. Happy New Year!

Young-un Cris, Okay I'm (dealing) my way and I got that ole red pullover on so bring it ON with a laugh or two.

I LOVED this hub and you are so right; laughter is the best drug for what ails one... My grandmother once told me that whatever I did always keep my sense of humor. It would help carry me through life’s pitfalls. Even in the worst of situations, one can always find something to smile or laugh about.

Fabulous. Yes indeed. I love the illustration and the mismatched socks. It reminded me that I never seem to care if my kids go out in mismatched socks. Sometimes I think I ought to care. But they seem to know when it's important to and when it's not, so I let them do what they need to do. What does it really matter whether or not your socks match. And what if you can't decide or feel like two colors instead of one? Your poem let me know I'm making the right choice.
