Updated on March 19, 2014

Glistening and Shining Face and Mind

We often hear about different kinds of workouts, yoga, and pranayamas which claim to give you a healthy body. Many of these work wonders and benefits are uncountable. Along the same lines, is there something which is very easy to learn, not time consuming, and benefits are innumerable?. Like say one-stop-shop for a healthy body and mind??

Indeed, there is an answer.

As we all know, there are different kinds of pranayamas which teach us variety of breathing techniques which help stretching one’s own life (prana). Roughly, there are around 100 pranayamas, from very easy-to-learn to difficult ones. I came across this easy but very, very effective pranayama. One need not spend much time also. Is this the best one among all, you take a call.

Kapalabhatti -- Skull shining…. Yes, Kapalabhatti means cleansing the skull and attaining shining. This sounds so unbelievable and at the same time it is indeed an interesting one.

Easy To Learn

Sit in siddhasana posture with a straight back, be comfortable and calm with eyes closed. To start with, take a deep breath and do the short exhale with full force and at the same time your stomach should go in. In other words, it is like you are using your stomach muscles to exhale or breathe out the air. Now, take normal breath in and do the short exhale with force using stomach muscles. Start with 30 to 50 breaths, you can slowly increase up to 5 minutes. Do not hurry, slowly increase and do it in a repetitive way. There are so many videos available on the net. Is not it the easiest one?

Another advantage of this pranayama is one can practice it anytime during the day but not after eating, can do two to three times a day. Initially one may experience some dizziness or headache, but slowly those will vanish when you start gaining expertise.

Persons with heart problems and high blood pressure should be cautious while starting, and those suffering from hernias should be extremely cautious. Women during pregnancy and periods should avoid doing this pranayama.

A Wondrous Panacea

I am very sure most of you start practicing it as soon as you finish reading this, because this is the best anti-aging exercise. As the name itself suggests, it gives you a glistening and shining face.

This simple pranayama’s advantages are innumerable, just have a look what and all it fights against.
