Keeping Safe While Trying Out Sauna Weight Loss Claims

People who are trying to lose weight are sometimes willing to try practically anything in order to see if it will help, especially if it won't cost them a lot of money. One of the newer claims is that sauna weight loss is possible just by spending a half hour relaxing in these hot rooms. Since in general the sauna is fairly healthy, there is no reason not to give this a try if you want to see whether or not it will help you out.

However, when you are testing out the sauna weight loss claims you want to make sure that you do so in a manner that is safe. It is not safe for pregnant women or those with heart problems to use the sauna, so if this is you, this is not something you should try. One common problem when people use the sauna is dehydration. Since dehydration can be very dangerous to your health, it is important that you drink water both before and after your visit to the sauna. You also want to limit your stay in the sauna to about 30 minutes.

In many cases, any weight that you actually lose from staying in the sauna is just water weight. You sweat a lot due to the increased body temperatures that are caused by the sauna, causing your body to lose both water and salt. This means that you are actually a bit lighter when you get out of the sauna. However, once you drink enough water to rehydrate yourself you are likely to notice that most of that supposed weight loss has come back.

As long as you don't count on the sauna to be responsible for all of your weight loss, it doesn't hurt to give it a try. It is generally considered an enjoyable experience, so even if you don't end up losing more weight after starting to visit the sauna, you could experience other health benefits, and you will probably have a lot less stress. Being less stressed will probably make your other weight loss efforts more effective, so you could end up losing more weight.
