Labrada Lean Body Protein Drinks - Healthy & Underrated!
Nutritional Facts and Health Analysis
From Labrada Nutrition, in each individual 11.5 fl oz. (340 mL) drink, there is 180 calories, 6 grams of total fat, 400 milligrams of sodium, 400 milligrams of potassium, 6 grams of total carbohydrates, 0 grams of sugar and 25 grams of protein. There is no sugar in the protein drinks, no trans fat and the product is lactose and gluten free. For daily values based on a 2,000 calorie diet, there is 15% of an individual's daily value of vitamin A, 15% for vitamin C, 30% for Calcium, 15% of vitamin D, 15% of vitamin E, 15% of vitamin K along with a lot of other vitamins and minerals. For ingredients, this product contains filtered water, Lean Protein (Special Blend Of Spray Dried ultrafiltered milk protein isolate, whey protein peptides, branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), L-Glutamine peptides, and slow acting casein peptides, whey protein concentrate, calcium caseinate), high oleic safflower oil, cocoa processed with alkali, cocoa, fiberplex (fructooligosaccharides, cellulose gel, cellulose gum, carageenan, xanthan gum), vitamin and mineral blend (potassium phosphate, potassium citrate, magnesium phosphate, sodium ascorbate, zinc sulfate, tocopherol acetate, biotin, vitamin A palmitate, niacinamide, phytonadione, potassium Iodide, d-calcium pantothenate, chromium chloride, copper sulfate, cyanocobalamin, sodium molybdate, sodium selenite, folic acid, cholecalciferol, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, thiamin mononitrate, manganese Sulfate), natural flavors, soy lecithin, citric acid, sucralose, salt and acesulfame potassium.
I have never had any bad reactions after consuming these protein drinks. With low sugar protein supplements, the individual is less likely to feel tired after drinking these said supplements. Sugary drinks can keep people stuck in the bathroom all day if they're consuming too much of it. Due to Lean Body having no sugar, this is not a problem for weight lifters and other hard-working people. As stated many times before, individuals should consult a physician prior to purchasing weight-gainers, protein powders, protein drinks, weight-loss supplements and other types of health supplements. This drink, among many others, may not be recommend for individuals with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), diabetes, hypoglycemia or have milk and soy food allergies. My favorite flavor currently is chocolate. I've seen the drinks come in other flavors as well, such as vanilla ice cream and strawberry ice cream. Not many protein drinks can taste fantastic with zero grams of sugar added to the ingredients, but Labrada Nutrition pulled it all off without demonstrating any major problems for the consumers. Usually, I'll end up finding aspartame and MSG (monosodium glutamate) mixed in with chips, candy bars, weight-loss supplements, protein bars and other products. For the Labrada Lean Body drinks, this is not the case.
Muscle Milk vs. Labrada Lean Body
From Cytosport, in one individual 44 fl. oz. (330 mL) Muscle Milk carton, there is 160 calories, 4.5 grams of total fat, 15 milligrams of cholesterol, 250 milligrams of sodium, 770 milligrams of potassium, 7 grams of total carbohydrates, 0 grams of sugar and 25 grams of protein. Muscle Milk's nutrition facts are similar to the Lean Body protein drinks. However, the drinks in each four-pack of Muscle Milk do not contain vitamin K, vitamin E, all the B vitamins, selenium, manganese molybdenum, chromium, copper, zinc, iodine, pantothenic acid and biotin. For the ingredients, Muscle Milk contains water, milk protein isolate, calcium caseinate (milk), sodium caseinate (milk), less than 1% of: soluble vegetable fiber, Inulin, maltodextrin, canola oil, cellulose gum and gel, sunflower oil, dipotassium phosphate, magnesium phosphate, natural and artificial flavors, sodium hexametaphosphate, potassium chloride, sodium phosphate, potassium citrate, ascorbic acid, carrageenan, ferric pyrophosphate, dicalcium phosphate, sucralose, Dl-alpha tocopheryl acetate, d-calcium pantothenate, niacinamide, zinc oxide, copper gluconate, vitamin A palmitate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, chromium chloride, folic acid, biotin, potassium iodide, cholecalciferol and cyanocobalamin.
Like the Lean Body drinks, Muscle Milk products are also lactose free. However, if an individual is looking for more vitamins and minerals in a protein drink product, the Labrada Lean Body protein shakes are the way to go. Not to mention, Cytosport changed the taste of their Muscle Milk drinks over the last few years. Back in 2014 and even earlier, I remember the chocolate drinks tasting more chocolatey. Nowadays in 2018, they have a weird aftertaste to them. I like drinking both Muscle Milk and the Lean Body drinks, but it doesn't taste as much that I'm sipping artificial sweeteners with Labrada supplements. In general, I believe high school and college athletes will prefer Muscle Milk because the product is a little bit cheaper. If you're on a budget trying to save some money to help pay back student loans, it's understandable for consumers to purchase Cytosport's four-pack of muscle milk and/or each individual carton of muscle milk over any other protein drinks. Vanilla, strawberry and banana are the only Muscle Milk flavors that have tasted the same to me over the last six years.
Conclusion
There are a lot of protein drinks on the market today. I personally got tired of spending money on the same old Muscle Milk drinks year after year at local Wal-Mart and Target stores. I've tried other products at these same stores, but a lot of supplement companies have a bad habit of ignoring criticism over disgusting flavors and taste. Not only do the Labrada Lean Body protein shakes offer more vitamins and minerals to consumers, I believe the chocolate drinks taste better than Muscle Milk's chocolate flavor. At Publix and other supermarkets, the four-pack 11.5 fl. oz (340 mL) drinks of Lean Body can be found for $9.99. The four-pack Muscle Milk cartons can be bought at most local stores for about $5.99. The beauty to purchasing these products is that the expirations dates are reasonable. If an individual is not interested in trying a specific supplement after purchasing the product, he or she can still try the supplement a few months from then.
The protein supplements can take about a year to expire. Through Amazon, I enjoy purchasing the 12 count 11 fl. oz. chocolate Muscle Milk drinks. The 12 count is probably an even better deal than the four-packs featured in the grocery stores. The 12 count total is $14.98 on Amazon. The "Labrada Nutrition Carb Watchers Lean Body Hi-Protein Meal Replacement Shake" is available on Amazon and this product is priced at $46.99 and includes 20 packets. Whatever your personal preference may be, I firmly believe the Labrada Lean Body drinks are the best protein drinks. I'm not talking about protein powders but only protein drinks. If you lift weight three to five days each week and struggle to consume enough protein every other day, one of these products might be for you. All in all, I highly recommend to athletes and regular joes to try the Labrada Lean Body drinks.
