Let him be the next John Joseph

Updated on November 11, 2013

Pastor Samuel

The other day Pastor Samuel came with a young man.   Let me introduce pastor Samuel.  Samuel is a visiting pastor in Delhi from USA.  Before he settled in USA, he was in Delhi and ministering the word of God after he resigned from the Indian Air force.  Then he got a chance to visit USA.  During the course of time he migrated to USA.  But he visited New Delhi every year without fail.  Whenever he visit Delhi, he would visit all the churches and meet believers and tried to strike a conversation with every believer.   He made every efforts to meet new believers and interact with old believers.  He has few relatives who are staying,  here In Delhi.  He is basically from Kerala.   Now he is visiting us after a year.  When he came from Kerala he brought a young man with him.  This young, educated and ambitious guy is looking for a suitable job and accommodation.  He wanted a place to stay and search for a suitable job. For that purpose Pastor Samuel take along with him to the places wherever he went and introduced him and sought help in getting accommodation and getting a job.  When he come to our church, after the service, as usual he introduced this young man and ask for help.  Then one of the elder who knows pastor Samuel very well told him,  "let him be the next John Joseph"

You may be wondering who is this John Joseph. Let me tell you about John Joseph.  John Joseph was an young enthusiastic guy from Kerala. He came with one of his friend to Delhi.  He was very social and ready to help others but does not had a permanent job.  When ever he meet any one in the street or church he would let the others know about his want by saying "if there is a vacancy, please let me know"   Before he got a permanent job, he used to stay with people who need a helping hand. He stayed with people for just food and accommodation, and  was a helping hand for others.  He did all kinds of jobs.  Washing cloths, doing dishes, cleaning floor, watering plants, helping a business man in his business, bringing children from school, baby sitting, escorting young ladies etc. etc.   He did whatever comes in his way.  During those days he was learning the language as well as pursuing his higher studies.  Everyone knows him and his attitude.  Whenever anyone need a helping hand, they used to call John Joseph for that.  At the same time John Joseph was there to do whatever help he could.  His attitude was really impressed me. He was very positive and willing to do anything.  He graduated from small jobs to big jobs. During those days he got training in different areas and he learned how to deal with people.

During the course of time he shifted to bigger opportunities which came in his way.  And acquired a good flat for living and got married.  His growth continued, and he got help from those who are around him.  He helped many people and many people helped him in his growth. His life is a living example for everyone who want to succeed.  Now he is a well known and affluent person in the society.  Eventually he started his own business and become wealthy and affluent in the society.  Whenever people talk about success, his name is expressed or mentioned as an example of success.   His name "John Joseph" become Synonym for success.  He was helping others, earning his living and the same time growing bigger and bigger. That is why the elder told Pastor Samuel that let him be the next John Joseph.

      Dear Hubcrafter,

You put forward a valid point. I am seriously considering to change the avatar.

      Thanks for highlighting the point.

I enjoyed this story of John Joseph.

May I ask a question about something else?

Why do you use this picture of a woman to represent... you? You are not a woman?

Please think about this. Why does a man use a woman's clothing or makeup?

Now consider what this woman's picture does to your testimony. It is...confusing...if by accident. It sends an odd message. It distracts me from your Christian message.

If you like to use a famous person's image..why not choose a man?

Thank you, Jacob, for writing such a "makes-you-feel-good" story with such an uplifting moral. The world needs more of folks with that helping others attitude.
