Low Carb Recipes and Flavored Syrups

Updated on March 28, 2011

a great tip for low carb recipes

I’m very into low carb recipes. If you’ve read very many of my hubs or articles on other sites, you already know this, right? Maybe that’s why you’re here – to see what I’ve come up with now! Yes, I’ll admit, my kitchen has turned into a laboratory of sorts. I’m always concocting new dishes. The problem is that I LOVE food! I even love cooking. But with my weight problem and elevated blood sugar, I have to be careful with what I consume. Of course, I still splurge occasionally and prepare and eat unhealthy foods sometimes, but for the most part, I stick to a healthy low carb diet with low carb foods. I’ve searched high and low for low carb and no-carb food and products to use in my low carb recipes.

One of the greatest additions I’ve found for my low carb recipes arsenal is Torani Syrups. These flavored syrups are amazing - perfect for low-carb dessert recipes! Not only are they practically carb-free, most of the ones I’ve tried have no calories. Did you get that? NO CALORIES! Nada! Zip! I’m not sure how Torani does it, but I’m just glad I discovered these syrups for my low carb recipes!

Flavors of Torani Low Carb Syrups

Torani syrups are available in several flavors. These include chocolate, vanilla, raspberry, hazelnut, Irish cream, caramel, almond, mango, brown sugar-cinnamon, lime, English toffee, coconut, orange, gingerbread, lemon, black cherry, chocolate chip cookie dough, orange, peach, peanut butter, pumpkin pie, coffee, and peppermint. In all honesty, I haven’t tried all of these flavors, but I have tried most of them, and I’ve loved them all!

Low Carb Recipes

Okay, so you’re wondering how I use these low carb syrups, right? Here are a few suggestions:

Create wonderful low-carb smoothies, especially with the fruit flavors.

Pour any flavor over sugar-free angel food cake.

Pour any flavor over low-carb ice cream.

Create your own flavored coffees! Add the syrups to your coffee for a rich, decadent flavor. My favorite for this is the Irish cream flavored Torani syrup. The hazelnut is also good this way.

Use the raspberry syrup to make your own low-carb raspberry-chipotle barbecue sauce.

Berries are about the lowest-carb fruits, and they’re great drizzled with the flavored syrups.

Sometimes I add the coffee-flavored syrup to my low carb chocolate milk for a mocha flavor.

Try adding a splash of black cherry to your diet cola. Or add vanilla or one of the fruit-flavored syrups to your diet Sprite or lemonade. These products are awesome in cocktails, too!

Do you like low carb cheesecake? You’ll like it even better by adding a flavored syrup. You’ll be adding lots of flavor without adding calories!

I’ve even used the peach and mango syrups on chicken and scallops!

Actually, I came up with a new use for the syrup just today. I created a low carb brownie recipe, and I kinda forgot about them, so they overcooked a little. Wait…I’m getting ahead of myself. First, I added some of the chocolate syrup to the batter. When I tasted my overcooked brownies, I thought they were a little too dry, so I tried one dowsed in the chocolate syrup. Yummy! Heck, I went ahead and coated the rest of the batch in chocolate syrup! I’m thinking other flavors would be good for this purpose, too: caramel, Irish cream, peanut butter, almond, peppermint, chocolate chip cookie dough…ooohhh…how ‘bout the English toffee syrup on the brownies??

Where to buy Torani Low Carb syrups

Unfortunately, these flavored syrups are sometimes hard to find in the grocery stores. Our local Walmart used to carry the raspberry and the chocolate, but none of the other flavors. Now, they don’t have any of the Torani syrups. I’ve asked the manager to order some, so perhaps someday they’ll have them again.

Luckily for me, Amazon has a good selection of the Torani low carb syrups! If you’re on a low carb diet, you’ll find that these products will help you stay on the straight and narrow. You’ll find all kinds of ways to use these to help keep your low carb diets from becoming tasteless and mundane. When your syrup arrives, try it in some of your favorite drinks and foods. I think you’ll like them as much as I do! You’ll soon find yourself coming up with all kinds of new low carb recipes!
