MORE Scenic Places to Walk in Orange County, CA
Since my very first Hub, published last July, ("Scenic Places to Walk in So. OC") I have experienced at least six more places I highly recommend.
- Bolsa Chica Wetlands - Huntington Beach, CA http://www.bolsachica.org
Be prepared and bring binnoculars, camera, and some warm clothing during the late afternoon hours, as it can get cold and windy as the sun is getting ready to set. You will see a wide variety of birds, in fact it is said that half of the variety of birds in the United States have been seen in Huntington Beach, CA
2. Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary http://www.tuckerwildlife.org/
Out past the infamous Cooks Corner, Tucker WIldlife Sanctuary is located in Modjeska Canyon. There is a Koi pond, small natural history museum/interpretive center, a bird observation porch and feeders, relaxing patio and picnic areas, a small amphitheater, a caretaker's house, and hiking trails.
3. The Holy Jim Trail - Cleveland National Forest http://www.localhikes.com/hikes/holyjimfalls_4472.asp
Although it is not quite a three mile round trip, it seems a bit longer due to 625 foot elevation gain. There is also a sweet waterfall at the end of the journey!
