Make Indoor Exercises Fun and Easy

Updated on March 6, 2015

Outdoor Exercises vs. Indoor Exercises

While outdoor exercises are enjoyed by many people, there will always be hindrances not to do them regularly. Indoor exercises can be just as fun if you choose a workout that you enjoy.

For many people, exercise can be a boring activity and for some, they believe it can be a waste of their time. However, there are people who exercise regularly and are having fun while doing it.

Many people do outdoor activities and exercises to stay active and to have fun. Many people are finding outdoor exercises fun because they incorporate their social life with their daily exercise routine. That is not a bad idea. But the problem with outdoor activities is that it always has the risk for most people not to do it regularly, for many reasons.

One of the most common problems with outdoor activities is the change in weather. During wet and cold seasons, it is kind of hard to go outside and exercise. Not to mention that during these seasons, trying to exercise outdoors can lead to unwanted sickness and infections due to the high humidity in the air. Besides, who wants to exercise in the rain? This practice is not only unhealthy, it is also impossible to maintain.

During these instances, we must be ready to create an alternative exercise that can be done indoors and still help us to have fun while doing them.

With indoor exercises, you’ll have fewer excuses not to do your daily exercise regularly.

Some Indoor Exercise Ideas

  • Aerobic exercise – with or without equipments, aerobic exercises are good for the lungs and heart. It also improves the body’s blood circulation and overall health. But if you are not very active in the past, make sure that your aerobic activities are of low impact.
  • Calisthenics – doing sit-ups, push-ups, squats, and lunges are effective in developing muscles and strengthening the body.
  • Home equipments – using home equipments like stationary bikes, treadmills, stair climbers, and steppers are effective workouts that can be done regularly.
  • Pilates – a combination of calisthenics, stretching, and the right breathing technique makes this form of exercise effective while it helps develop lean muscles and improve posture.
  • Pole dancing – can be used as an aerobic or anaerobic exercise. A complete workout that helps your body become more limber and stronger.
  • Stretching – doing stretches regularly help your muscles to relieve tension and to make your body more limber. You can also use this as a regular routine especially when you are short of time.
  • Weight training – this type of indoor exercise may not be as fun as aerobics but they are effective in developing muscles.
  • Wii fit – this interactive game keeps you going while you’re at it. Aside from being a fun interactive game, this can help users stay in shape if done regularly.
  • Going to the gym – some people might think that exercising at home is pretty boring. They need to go out and have a social life. Going to the gym and using gym equipments and taking classes the gym offers can give you a good workout as well as a good social affair.
  • Taking a walk in different scenery – if you are interested in just walking to make your exercise routine easy. It sure will be less boring if you walk in malls and shopping centers and other indoor places to incorporate your walk with sightseeing.
  • Yoga – just like Pilates, it is a combination of calisthenics and stretching incorporated with the right breathing technique to make this workout or set of poses effective.

Practice Healthy Exercises

These are just few indoor exercises you can do to have fun. Just make sure that if you are going to do a certain exercise regularly, it should be an exercise that you enjoy doing. That way, you would actually be looking forward to do it daily.

Some people tend to overdo their exercises when they enjoy them. It is neither a good idea nor a good practice to overdo your exercises. If you hurt yourself for overdoing your routine, it is going to minimize the fun that you can get from your exercise. Aside from that, you won’t be able to do your exercise routine regularly when injured.

The most advisable practice is to do them regularly but without overdoing them or you might end up hurting your body more than making it healthier. When you do exercises that are fun and easy for you to follow, you tend to stick to it more and you tend to have fun while doing them.

If you are the type of person who enjoy doing your exercises outdoors, it is best to maintain those activities as regular as possible and just do your indoor exercises whenever going out is not possible, for any reason. Or better yet, you can do indoor exercises along with outdoor exercises so that if you cannot do your exercises outdoors, you are not at a loss. Besides, both kinds of exercises are healthy and it is best if you can enjoy them both.
