Bamboo Charcoal Teeth Whitener Toothpaste

Over the years, when the word charcoal is mentioned, people think of cooking fuel, dirt, debris, and waste. But charcoal has made its way into the beauty market and is being used in skin care products like face masks, shampoo, and body scrub.

Charcoal toothpastes may be found to help remove external (extrinsic) staining on teeth without negative abrasive effects.

— The Pharmaceutical Journal, A Royal Pharmaceutical Society Publication.

What is bamboo charcoal?

Bamboo charcoal can be called the biblical ‘rejected stone that became the chief corner stone’. It is made from the rapidly growing moso bamboo. Because of the characteristic nature of its growth, millions of tiny holes are created as the plant gets to maturity.

This process takes approximately five years and the charcoal made from this type of bamboo is especially good at absorption. During its growth, many tiny holes develop in the bamboo and these are retained in the charcoal.

This way the charcoal can absorb many odours, pollution and even some poisons. While charcoal is a great teeth whitener, Bamboo charcoal has excellent absorption properties stronger than that of the regular charcoal and hence makes a great and efficient product.

Caution when using charcoal toothpaste

Is charcoal toothpaste bad for your teeth?

Although the answer is no, you need to be cautious.

All these benefits and qualities notwithstanding, dentists advise that bamboo charcoal teeth whitener should be used sparingly. After the first use, wait at least two days before reusing and observe your entire mouth carefully.

A pea size of it should be applied to the toothbrush for each use. Do not use more than two times in a week.

In addition, an article published in the journal of American Dental Association, advises caution when using charcoal and charcoal-based dentifrices.

It is better to simply brush on the teeth while avoiding overtaxing the gums. Also avoid vigorous brushing with hard brushes that could wear down the enamel.
