Will We See Our Pets in Heaven?

Famous Christian Authors Who Believe Pets Go to Heaven

Randy Alcorn has written an interesting book called “Heaven” and believes that animals will be present in the Kingdom of Heaven.

C. S. Lewis,

Peter Kreeft

Sylvia Brown

Niki Behrikis Shanahan

James Herriot

And dozens and dozens of others

The list of Christian pastors, theologians, and clergy is too long to list here.

Do all Dogs Really Go to Heaven?

I do not know ...

I do not know the answer to the question. The only thing I do know for certain is of the unconditional love our pets provide to us, and that we do consider them to be a part of our family.

I am only writing this, as it is therapeutic for me to do so.

This past Thursday, my dog, Cookie, a Jack Russell terrier, died. She was run over by a UPS truck. She would have been ten years old this coming Christmas.

As far as the Bible is concerned, I can find nowhere in the Bible where it comes right out and states that our pets will be in Heaven with us. It is a lovely thought. I do know the Bible speaks of animals in Heaven, of course. As humans, we can make choices in regard to God/Jesus, but not our four legged friends, or as in the case of my childhood pet, Brownie, our three-legged dog.

Here is scripture to ponder in Ecclesiastes 3:19-21:

Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

When my granddaughters come for a visit, the first thing they ask is where is Cookie Dog?

I really do not know what I am going to tell them about Cookie yet. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to share in the comment section below, keeping in mind, my granddaughters are three and five years old.

I remember approximately ten years ago, very early one frosty Christmas morning before everyone else had woken up, driving out to the country to pick up our new pet and surprise for our family. It was only I who knew of such surprise. I remember my husband being the most surprised at the unexpected gift that Christmas . . . hehehe.

At the time, my son was only 15 years old (he will be 25 this June) and he had just busted his spleen while skateboarding, and was down for a good long while until it healed, which was very hard for him, as he was a very active child into extreme sports, obviously. That is another story in and of itself that I have written of in part.

When my daughter saw her, she immediately said, she looks like a cookie, with the different colors, and so that became her name, Cookie.

Cookie's favorite thing in this world to do was fetch the ball. She was a tad bit OCD (Obsessive Compulsive), as she would chase the ball (if you let her) for hours and hours on end.

In conclusion, in my mind, pondering such a question as to whether our pets will be in Heaven with us, is pointless and a waste of our time, as we really do not know until we go to our true home one day in Heaven. It is then and only then we will know for sure. So, one day I know I will know the answer to this question.

I praise my Lord God for creating such wonderful animals for all of us to cherish as our pets here on this earth.

Sharing a Poem by an Unknown Author

I'm Still Here

Friend, please don't mourn for me I'm still here, though you don't see. I'm right by your side each night and day and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near. I'm everything you feel, see or hear. My spirit is free, but I'll never depart as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight- I'm the brightest star on a summer night. I'll never be beyond your reach- I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around and the pure white snow that blankets the ground. I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond, The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring, The first warm raindrop that April will bring. I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine, and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you, you can talk to me through the Lord above you. I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees, and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep. I'm the smile you see on a baby's face. Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

      Oh Faith,

Now that I have " met" dear Cookie through these sweet pictures...I share your sadness even more so.

I am a believer 100 % that we will see all our loved ones again in heaven, including our furry angel children.

With little ones, I would not get into the specifics. Let them ask and be kind as you are...I can hear my Mom saying..."God needed whoever our pet was..." and if I pressed with my whys, she would finish up with " it was their time". And I guess as we still don't understand, even as adults, that is basic and decent in approach.

I also feel terribly for the UPS driver because I suspect he feels rotten. Those guys are under way too much pressure for time and even a safe driver can hit a poor pooch. My thoughts are with you all.

Please be gentle with yourself. Peaceful Easter, my friend. Love, Maria

      Hi Faith,

So sorry to hear about Cookie. I had a cat ( the first cat I ever owned) and he died in the same way as Cookie did. I have to admit I never thought I would love a cat like that because cats never appealed to me but when I saw him as a kitten, I couldn't resist him.

The idea of a pet going to heaven is a pretty wonderful idea but you are right it is not confirmed or denied in the Bible and so we truly will have to wait and see.

It is hard telling your grandchildren about Cookie but I would suggest that you wait for them to ask again and let them know gently that he is gone. You can show them where he is buried and let them know that even though he is gone he can still be considered special by them.

I know how it feels when a pet becomes less like a pet and more like a part of the family.

Faith, my heart aches, what a beautiful hub, and I sometimes think I just love animals too much. I also wonder if children adjust better than we adults when a pet is gone.

Seeing your beautiful rainbow bridge picture with this hub, maybe you could show the picture to your grandchildren and just say, "Cookie has unexpectedly crossed over the rainbow bridge and is now in God's care and that is a wonderful place to be." If they ask what happened, I believe the truth reigns. I would just say the dog was in an accident, but the good news is that she is happy and okay.

That being said, I 100 percent believe our pets are in Heaven. I do not believe God would be so cruel as to make it otherwise. I think it says in Genesis that the spirit returns to the God who placed it in us...or something like that?

The loss of a pet is devastating. No sugarcoating here. We have lost a few cats and one, Sweetpea, our lilac point Siamese, did my husband in. He would sit at the kitchen table with her picture playing solitaire. It broke my heart. She had cancer, and Dave having to sign the papers to have her put down about destroyed him.

Also, I hit a dog once on my way home from work. I heard the dog scream, but it took off, one leg dangling...was broken, and he just ran with the other 3 legs. The little boy/owner was out front of the house and was screaming. I pulled over right away. The neighbor came out and I gave him my phone number, telling him the dog just ran in front of me and it was too late. The boy was trying to catch the injured dog.

I was devastated. Later, at home, the father of the boy telephoned me. He thanked me MANY times for the courtesy of stopping and giving out my phone number. He was tearful, said the dog was at the vet but they did not think he was going to make it. THEN he put the little boy on the phone. I cannot remember what I said to that child, but my eyes well up with tears every time I remember that incident. So I can relate to the UPS driver and the way he must be feeling.

I am praying for you all, including the driver, and I rejoice Cookie is not in pain. But KNOW how my heart aches...there are other dogs out there that may need your love. Blessings, Sparklea

I am so sorry you lost Cookie. I believe our pets are in Heaven. Noah did has his Ark full of animals!

I know you will find a way to tell your loved ones about Cookie. Make it a celebration that Cookie is no longer in pain and watching everyone from the Heavenly spot.

(I am on vacation and while Bella is doing better, she is having allergy attacks and the vet is so busy I can't get her in until next week. I am glad I can be home to console her and care for her more.)

However you let your loved ones know about Cookie, I know you will do it right.

      Take care.

What a beautiful, faith-filled tribute. Cookie lives in your heart and Love never ends. I believe she will be waiting for you...When I lost my Golden Retriever someone gave me the story of the Rainbow Bridge and it was a great comfort. The Vet gave me a copy of Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul; I read one story each night and cried myself to sleep. When I finally finished the book, my tears were done too. Claim that peace that passes all understanding and continue to treasure those precious memories and pictures. Thank you for allowing us to weep with you, and rejoice with you for knowing and having such love. L.

Oh Faith. My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family for your loss. I can see from your photos that this was a special member of the family and she will certainly be missed deeply. One of our dogs is also a Cookie - we've always called her Cookie Doe. She is beloved and as she gets close to her 13th birthday in July she is slowing down. It is difficult to watch as I remember her first days with us after a neighbor rescued her from a gang of street dogs. She was street smart but has served many roles with our family dogs: sister, playmate, nurse maid, puppy trainer and now elder.

I know you will find the best way to explain to your Grandkids and they will understand. Again, so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you.

Cookie was a beautiful dog. What a lovely face! I think your Hub is such a beautiful tribute that it could be used to explain Cookie's death to your grandchildren, as you look through those lovely pictures. It is important to tell them that they should be careful not to go into a street, because it is not safe. You can make a story about Cookie's life, that they will love and accept.

By the way, you have your beloved dog's memory in your heart, and even deeper, in your soul. Of course they will go to Heaven with you. 100% sure.

I am in full agreement with the writer of Ecclesiastes 3:19-21.

What to tell your grandchildren? They are still so young. I would spare mine unnecessary shock and sadness and simply tell them that they have gone to the doggy heaven. One day they will query the existence of heaven and what it all entails - just like you and all of us - and they may eventually come to the conclusion that the writer of Ecclesiastes 3:19-21 has given us the best answer.

After I have lost the umpteenth pet to death, I have decided to live on without pets. I am not willing to go through that awful pain of lost again, and may God spare me the lost of one of my beloved children and grandchildren. They are my pets :)

      Take care, Faith Reaper :)

Haven't been here since last night so just saw this. Of course I knew but so sad and of course you must just tell your little angels the truth as gently as you can, you and I lived through it as kids and they will too. I see nothing wrong with letting them think she went to heaven. I truly believe their spirits do as ours and I have recently heard or read a preacher said there is scripture for that (I will try to find that) but animals are good and bad just like people. Maybe that would give your little girls some food for thought to think about how some animals are good and some are bad, never too soon to have them dwell on these things.

I will go now and see if I can find that info because so near to losing my cat Lily I wonder too and have meant to anyway. She will always be a smiling memory to you all. God bless.

      Hi Dearest Maria,

Thank you so much for your heartfelt words and advice as to what to tell the grands.

Yes, I do feel bad for the UPS man, as it was in no way his fault at all, but really we are at fault, which makes it so much harder on us. I won't go into details, but the UPS man was not at fault.

One UPS man befriended Cookie and treated her to a doggie biscuit when he would deliver a package to our home. This was not the same one, which I am kind of glad about, as he really would have felt bad.

At least it was real quick, and she did not suffer.

God bless and peace to you and your family at Easter.

Hello my friend. I have my own beliefs about our pets and when they may pass on. It is my strong feeling that when we raise pets, we get so close to them that our spirits merge. If one passes away, the spirit remains with us and becomes a part of us till we reach the here after ourselves, where we are all joined in the spirit and live on. I understand when it comes to losing these little creatures and we know how they become a part of our family. My condolences go out to you and yours on this Spring day in March, 2013. whonu

I believe that our pets will be waiting for us in Heaven, Faith. After all, why not? God is love, and I think it would please Him to restore our pets to us in Heaven. The Bible describes all sorts of beings living in Heaven, and animals are very much a part of the landscape in Isaiah's vision of when Christ returns to rule. Like you, I can't prove it, but based on what I know of God, I believe it. I'm sorry your beloved pet is gone but I don't think she's gone too far away.

      Hi Sparklea,

Thank you so much for your lovely heartfelt words here. Your suggestions as to what to tell my grands is a beautiful manner in which to express such a loss to children, as they were so in love with Cookie.

I am sorry about the loss of your pets too, and my heart especially goes out to your husband.

I know just how much you love all animals, and I know how difficult it must have been on you when you hit that dog. and that family knows of your kindness and love for animals. That would have been very difficult to speak with the little boy about his dog. God bless you.

In our case, it was not the UPS man's fault in no way, and actually our own fault, which makes it even harder knowing that fact. However, as you state here, she is not in pain and knowing she did not suffer as it was so quick, does help some.

      Hello Dearest Jackie,

Thank you for your kind words here, as well as wise words as well! I am sorry about your cat, but I guess that is the natural response to us living creatures here on this earth.

My son brought the grands up early this day and, of course, they asked about Cookie, and I just did not have the heart this day to tell them the truth, and so I just told them she went down the road to visit one of her doggie friends.

They will be returning tomorrow for Easter, so I will have more explaining to do.

God bless you. I pray you have the peace of the Lord, the peace that surpasses all understanding, in your heart and that you have a very blessed and safe Easter with your grandson.

Hi Faith Reaper... Thank you for writing this and I can certainly understand now the love you have for this wonderful friend who shared your life with you. I am so sorry for your loss and the love you have for pets rings loudly throughout.

It is certainly a question we ponder of our pets and what becomes of them. Over the years I have had several dogs and they have all become a huge part of my life. No matter where I go or what I do they are close and there is great comfort in coming to know their love. I like to think they can teach us and they do if we pay attention to the love they so freely give.

You raise a good question about our pets in heaven and one I have thought of often. Like you and many I like to think we will see them again. Thank you for writing this my friend... Take peace in knowing that Cookie not only warmed your lives but you certainly warmed hers.

      Much love from Canada

Sweet sweet tribute, Faith. Losing a precious pup or kitty is not quite like any other loss. Our pets become such a part of our lives that when they leave us especially as your sweet pup did it is wretchedly painful.

But sharing him with us helps to soothe us in some small away. As for the answer to your question, I do think our pets will be there...how could it be otherwise?? But that is just my humble opinion...one day we shall know.

Sending Angels to comfort and cheer you, Faith.

Have a lovely week. :) ps

When I was little my father explained to me what heaven was like. While my father does not have a crystal ball nor has he ever been to heaven, he does have a strong knowledge of the bible and has debated the subject of animals in heaven with many of his priest friends. The general consensus is that heaven holds all the desires of your heart, so should those desires include your beloved pets, then they shall be there to greet you with their tails a wagging! I know in my heart my Bullmastiff Harley will knock me over when she see's me coming! I'm counting on it!! If you get a moment I recently wrote a poem about heaven and what It will be like for me, It's called ' Counting on heaven.' I hope you can find peace in your 'cookies' passing and know you'll be together again someday! Thanks for sharing!

I remember a passage in scripture, dearest Faith, that God knows the feathers of a bird, and every hair on our head, of course, meaning God loves deeply enough to care about the minutia of every living being. I believe that God gave all animals life for more purpose than the suffering many of them endure. Our pets understand us, need us and loyally love us, and for most pet caregivers, the relationship is reciprocal. Loving human beings are working to protect, rescue and salvage abused, neglected animals, with laws that hold cruelty inflicted on animals by humans, criminal.

St. Francis of Assisi was canonized the patron saint of animals. He holds a special place in biblical history and remains sacred in the eyes of those that love animals. Animals, like beloved children, are wholly dependent on human beings for their well being and their very survival. I remember many pictures depicting Jesus with lambs, birds and his own mother, Mary gave birth to Him after she and Joseph made their way to the Inn on a donkey. I believe in the sacredness of life, beautiful Faith, without exception, and I believe God, who created all life, values every life, without exception.

I am so sorry to hear about your adorably sweet, well loved 'Cookie'. I am glad Cookie did not suffer. And, I know, as your companion, Cookie enjoyed a wonderful life. If you ever have a moment of doubt about the superhuman love and loyalty of a dog, Faith, please read the true story 'Greyfriars Bobby'. Bless you, my friend. I love you.

I am sorry for your loss. :( Animals bring such pure love and kindness...it is hard to lose them.

I also lost my dog last Thursday, she was 16, and this Monday my parents cat of 21 years went. It has been a week full of tears and mourning for us.

I am not sure about heaven, but I do know that I have had experiences with my deceased pets in the home. Whether people's faith conflicts with that or not, I don't know - I only know what I have experienced, and it comforts me greatly.

Hi Faithreaper, sad to hear about this. Cookie looks so adorable! I had a set of 4 cassettes that had songs for children when I was at school. One of those songs was "Pets in Heaven" that said in the lyrics that we'll meet our pets in heaven. So I have grown up with this strong belief in my mind that we will meet our pets in heaven. I do pray still everyday for them, asking also for a good place for them in heaven (sounds silly).

      Dear Faith,

My heart goes out to you and your family over the loss of your beloved pet, Cookie. I do hope that we will see our precious 4-legged babies again someday! I have always believed that God brings us together not only for loving comfort and companionship, but as a way of showing us how to fully love Him. Our pets love us unconditionally and trust us completely. They cannot tell the time, nor do they know where we go when we shut the door and leave them behind, but they wait faithfully for our return and trust that we will give them all that is needed. I am amazed at how intuitive animals are and how attuned to our emotions! As much as my heart breaks each time I've had to say goodbye, I will always have a place there to love another. God created us to find joy in this companionship and mutual need. What a blessing!

      Hugs,

Indeed, a very touching hub. So sorry to read of Cookie's death. I admire and commend your restraint in writing that you don't know whether or not our pets go to heaven. I find many asserting that they do with little if any biblical justification. The anguish felt is, no doubt, like that we imagine having when we get to heaven and find that an earthly loved one (brother, mom, friend, whoever) is not there. I've often pondered how I could be happy in heaven if my son or daughter is not there. God deliberately holds back the info on these issues, lest we obsess over whether or not someone's in heaven and forget that heaven is about Him. I guess the bottom line is that we're to trust that our infinitely loving and holy God will have a solution for us in eternity. Until then there's comfort in knowing that our loved ones are in the hands of such a God.

      Hello liftandsoar,

So glad for your visit here this day! Yes, there is not any biblical justification to say that our beloved pets will be in heaven, and so we will just have to wait to find out. I just praise Him for the time he has given us to be with our beloved pets he created, as dogs surely do give that unconditional love.

You are right, I believe once we arrive in heaven, as we cannot even comprehend what he has planned for us, as it will be like nothing we have ever experienced before and we may not even have the realization of who is or who is not there with us, but just seeing His glorious face will be enough for all eternity.

Thank you for you profound comments here.

I am so sorry about your cat. Our 17 year old cat did the same thing. She was really my daughter's cat so-to-speak, who she grew up with. And it was as though our cat waited for my daughter to get home from work before she took her last breath. She was holding out and struggling until my daughter arrived home. I think for me heaven on earth is right here right now as I am enjoying my 2nd cup of coffee with Tiffy and Gabriel by my side on a rainy day here by the lake - normally they would both be outside but they like to keep dry, lol.

Little Miss Tiffy is now 18 and she was my mum's cat and sometimes I think my mum has come back and she is living inside of Tiffy.

As always I love your heartfelt writing and the story you tell here and it's one that many of us all over the world can relate to.

Well, now, I am blessed this morning from such a visit from an esteemed and beloved friend and writer, You, dearest Colin!

I will do my best to enjoy this day off and in celebration, and it has started off very well, being you have graced my hubspace with your presence.

I hope you too enjoyed your Canada day on Monday! Yes, truly where does the time go? This year is half over already! Time seems to be speeding up to me.

I truly believe you are experiencing heaven right here on earth with your precious furry family, who provide that unconditional love no matter come what may! Plus, with you living on the beautiful lake, it just doesn't get any better than that. It would be so lovely to be there to share a cup of coffee with you and feel the breeze of the lake.

We had two beautiful kitties for pets, one lived to be 17 years old, Kitty, a gray-striped cat, who gave us much love in her long life, which in our eyes was really too short, but we are thankful to have had the time we did with her. We had a tearful little beautiful ceremony for her in our backyard.

Long ago, we had another beautiful gray Angora cat named Lucky, but Lucky was not so lucky as she was killed by a teenager speeding down our street one day. Such a sad day there.

I do not doubt that many can relate, for once we know of that unconditional love our pets provide to us, as our pets are truly are family too, as you know!!!

Thank you for such lovely comments here this day and sharing with me.

I appreciate you sharing on your FB page! You're the best!

Hugs and love to you, Miss Tiffy and Gabriel from southern USA,

      Faith Reaper

      Dear Faith,

I am really sorry for your loss of Cookie! I know it's really hard to lose a beloved pet; they are part of the family. I am sure that you still think often of Cookie!

I lost three of my cats. The first one was Cattleya in 1995; she was there even before we had any children. She was our first cat and she immigrated with my husband and I to Canada; she was 16 years old when she past away. After that, it was Violette, in 1999, she was 18 years old and finally, Myosotis, left us at the age of 15 about 3 years ago.

I still have a 17 years old and 2 years old at home.

Cats and dogs bring so much in a household. They can be good listeners for our children and us :-) Usually, they never complain and are always happy to see us!

In my view, there are no doubts that they go to heaven :-)

Blessings to you and your family!

      Hi Joelle (kidscraft),

Yes, it is very hard, as one just keeps expecting to see them around the corner or in their normal favorite spot(s). I am sorry for you losses too.

We have had many pets through the years too, to include cats.

They all have their unique little personalities and their special place in the family no doubt.

I appreciate your visit here this night and for sharing about your furry family members too.

      Blessings to you and yours,

      Faith Reaper

      Hi FlourishAnyway,

Thank you so much for your kind words here. Yes, there are so many homeless animals who need a loving home. We did just adopt a kitten. We are not ready for a dog yet, but we do miss having a sweet dog to love on and who always returns that unconditional love.

      Bless you, Faith Reaper

Morning Jackie, well, it took awhile and I finally did tell them as gently as possible and that she is okay and we thank God for the time we had with her and will always remember her. They never asked anything again and now, of course, we have George, our new kitten that Scarlett named. LOL

I am sorry about your Lily, for I know you miss her too. There are so many needing a home and any pet will be blessed to have you as its owner to love.

      Hugs, Faith Reaper

      Hello,

While I don't know you, I read your beautiful words about your pet you so loved, and understood, because I once had a dog I loved that much. Buddhists and Hindus believe that animals have spirits, and that they go to heaven. Even though you are from a different faith, I have a feeling many religions have the important things, like love, in common. An author I've been reading, Michael Newton, regresses patients to recall past lives, and they remember seeing souls of pets in the afterlife. I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's hard to know what to say to little children. Unfortunately I've had experience with that. Tell them as little as possible, and it may surprise you what explanation they come up with. You could tell them about the accident, or maybe just say you had to take the dog for a test, and then later the doctor said he was too sick to come home. They may decide that he became an angel, or something that comforts them, before you have to say too much. I'm so sorry for your loss, our pets are like family (often better than some members)! I'll be thinking of you.

      Hello Jean,

So nice to meet you! Thank you so much for your kind words here. I appreciate you sharing about the other faiths, how interesting. Oh, yes, love is the answer, I truly believe. How interesting about Michael Newton, the author. Yes, I have heard of such happening many times.

Yes, for a long while when they would visit, they always asked about Cookie, and I just said she was visiting down the street with her doggie friends. They seemed to understand that, but then I sort of shared a bit, as you have stated here, not too much, and they seem to be okay. I like that idea about going to the doctor and becoming an angel. I always sing their favorite song to them at bedtime about angels, so maybe that would be comforting.

They most certainly are a part of one's family, and you are right too about some family members!

I appreciate you thinking of me and I received a blessing from your visit here this day and your sincere commenting.

      Blessings, Faith Reaper

I don't know how I missed this hub, but please accept my condolences on your loss of Cookie. I had tears in my eyes reading this. I'm so very sorry. I do hope that we will see the pets that we've lost again. Cookie was beautiful.

Thank you dear Liz. Yes, she was beautiful. We miss her terribly. Yes, I do hope so too. Since you are a dog lover, you may love to read about my childhood pet, Brownie, linked here, who adopted us as children and became our childhood pet all the way up into our high school years. He came to us when we were very small with only three legs! He appeared to be grown and still lived such a long life to bless us.

Hugs to you and your lovely furry children this day.

I had to have my dog euthanized a few years ago. It was right at Christmas. Her certificate of cremation had a lovely Bible verse.

Dear Faith - I am so sorry you lost Cookie. And I am so sorry I missed this Hub, which is a beautiful tribute to Cookie, to your love for her, and to the love and loss so many of us have experienced with our precious animals.

We have had many pets over the years and it is always hard when they pass on. Last November my favorite cat, who had been with me since I had a stroke nine years ago, was diagnosed with cancer of the jaw at a routine visit to the vet. I was stunned and horrified. I didn't want him to suffer, but I thought we had another 4 or 5 years together. At least I was with him, holding him until the very end. These losses are so very hard. I am so sorry for your loss.

I don't know if we will know the spirits of our animals in heaven or not, but I have hope. Something C.S. Lewis wrote gives me hope. He said that just as we individuals will one day be caught up into heaven in Christ's love, possibly our beloved pets will also be caught up in our love. He explained it much better than that, of course. Anyway, we can have hope. My heart goes out to you and your family. Theresa

Remember me?? I have not been active very much for the past six months, and I have missed you and everyone here.

I read this beautiful Hub long ago, but came back to reread. I hope our pets go to Heaven. I will be disappointed if they do not. I have a Miniature Schnauzer that I just love to death.

I hope by now you have a new dog in your life. My best, Mary

I am sorry about your great loss of your favorite cat last November. I am glad you were right there.

I do know of that lovely quote by C. S. Lewis and wished I had included it here. C. S. Lewis is a brilliant writer. Thank you for reminding me of his beautiful quote.

      Blessings to you and yours,

      Hi Dear Mary!

Of course I remember you and I am thrilled to see you again stopping by here to read! I sure have missed you too and hope you have been well. I know how much you are blessed to have your Miniature Schnauzer in your life. We do have a puppy, Max, who is a Chocolate Labrador. Although he is still a puppy, he is growing so fast, almost the size of a horse it seems lol. We also have a new kitten too, George, lol, who our oldest granddaughter named.

I am making my way over to your side of HP Town now.

Huh poor cookie :( sorry to hear about his death. Well i believe you will see cookie again in heaven someday..... A man by the name of William many years ago lost his dog and his rocking chair back to the store he had taken it out from because he could not have afforded it anymore. His wife and daughter died a few years later from pneumonia etc. He wanted to give up on life and shot himself, but he fell into a vision, he saw his daughter beautiful as can be and she said daddy let me take you to see mama. He saw his wife and his dog he had really love also his rocking chair in heaven. I believe some of the good things we possess here our Father will grant it to us over there.

Just as the song goes there will be peace in the valley for me someday oh Lord i pray. There'll be no sadness no sorrow no pain& the beast from the wild shall be led by a little child and the lion shall lay down by the lamb etc. So if there are animals in heaven i believe God lends us them for awhile and then takes them back :)

      Have a bless day Faithy

      Hello Dear Jo (LaydFiddler),

Thank you for leaving such a heartfelt comment here and one I truly appreciate. You have comforted me in your commenting dear heart. Cookie was a female dog and the first dog, my first granddaughter loved, and they still question what happened to her. I had to tell them, finally, she went on to heaven. Thank you for sharing your most comforting story, and I do believe it is true, that God lends us these wonderful creatures to give us that unconditional love that we so need, when people fail us, and to know that we may see them again in heaven seems only appropriate, but I know we will find out precious heart.

God bless you. In His Love always, Theresa aka Faith Reaper : )

I am just now reading this. I am so sorry for cookie.

A beautiful dog! I am so over protective with our 2 dogs

      And our 5 cats.

We use to let them go all outside until the one day..

Eddy our cat was hit by a car.

He made it back to us, thank God!

And we took him to get his lower jaw wired.

His paw was broken, and he had some nerve damage.

Lost a couple teeth. This was almost 3 years ago now.

I just prayed over him until I got him to the vets.

Now, Eddy is always located at my hip. Curls up with me at night.

I hope God would let our babies (animals) in with us. I believe he would do this. I just don't want to know if I am wrong.

Shared and Up for everything but funny.

      Your grand babies are beautiful~

      Hi Dear Jo,

Thank you for your sweet visit this day. Oh, I am sorry about Eddy. Yes, we had that happen to one of our cats, Lucky, who was not so lucky. A teenager was speeding down our street and just kept on going per our neighbors, as we were away on Father's Day way back when.

I am glad Eddy is safe close to you now.

I believe we will see our pets in Heaven and one day we will find out.

      Thank you for sharing

We have our Max now, a loveable Chocolate Lab, and George, our gray-striped cat : )

I now have another grandchild since that photo was taken, and he is a beautiful grandson who will be two in October!

      God bless you and yours

      Hi Dear Shyron,

Yes, our pets are family and I do hope we will see them again in heaven.

Oh, it was so hard for me to tell them the truth for the longest time and I just told them that she was visiting her friends somewhere in the neighborhood. Then finally after months it seems, I told them she went on to heaven, but did not tell the gruesome details of how she died.

Thank you for that link, precious heart.

      Hugs
