Do all Dogs Really Go to Heaven?
I do not know ...
I do not know the answer to the question. The only thing I do know for certain is of the unconditional love our pets provide to us, and that we do consider them to be a part of our family.
I am only writing this, as it is therapeutic for me to do so.
This past Thursday, my dog, Cookie, a Jack Russell terrier, died. She was run over by a UPS truck. She would have been ten years old this coming Christmas.
As far as the Bible is concerned, I can find nowhere in the Bible where it comes right out and states that our pets will be in Heaven with us. It is a lovely thought. I do know the Bible speaks of animals in Heaven, of course. As humans, we can make choices in regard to God/Jesus, but not our four legged friends, or as in the case of my childhood pet, Brownie, our three-legged dog.
Here is scripture to ponder in Ecclesiastes 3:19-21:
“Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”
When my granddaughters come for a visit, the first thing they ask is where is Cookie Dog?
I really do not know what I am going to tell them about Cookie yet. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to share in the comment section below, keeping in mind, my granddaughters are three and five years old.
I remember approximately ten years ago, very early one frosty Christmas morning before everyone else had woken up, driving out to the country to pick up our new pet and surprise for our family. It was only I who knew of such surprise. I remember my husband being the most surprised at the unexpected gift that Christmas . . . hehehe.
At the time, my son was only 15 years old (he will be 25 this June) and he had just busted his spleen while skateboarding, and was down for a good long while until it healed, which was very hard for him, as he was a very active child into extreme sports, obviously. That is another story in and of itself that I have written of in part.
When my daughter saw her, she immediately said, she looks like a cookie, with the different colors, and so that became her name, Cookie.
Cookie's favorite thing in this world to do was fetch the ball. She was a tad bit OCD (Obsessive Compulsive), as she would chase the ball (if you let her) for hours and hours on end.
In conclusion, in my mind, pondering such a question as to whether our pets will be in Heaven with us, is pointless and a waste of our time, as we really do not know until we go to our true home one day in Heaven. It is then and only then we will know for sure. So, one day I know I will know the answer to this question.
I praise my Lord God for creating such wonderful animals for all of us to cherish as our pets here on this earth.

I'm Still Here
Friend, please don't mourn for me I'm still here, though you don't see. I'm right by your side each night and day and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but I'm always near. I'm everything you feel, see or hear. My spirit is free, but I'll never depart as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out of your sight- I'm the brightest star on a summer night. I'll never be beyond your reach- I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around and the pure white snow that blankets the ground. I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond, The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring, The first warm raindrop that April will bring. I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine, and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking there's no one to love you, you can talk to me through the Lord above you. I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees, and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep. I'm the smile you see on a baby's face. Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!
