Being One with Self and Present

What is Mindfulness?

It's a state of being aware of your thoughts and actions and being in the moment. It helps us to have undivided focus on the present situation and saves a lot of mental and physical energy in the process. It's a kind of on going meditation without having to sit in a particular posture or listening to a particular music. For example, say you are watering the plants. You focus on how the water enriches the soil and makes it moist, the leaves get drenched with the water and turn from dusty to a rich green colour. If you try to immerse yourself in this visual experience it can be quite calming and enriching for your mind. During this time, you might be able to free yourself from the day to day problems of life. The major stressors that upset your mental state and cause you distress. It's really simple yet amazing that how a simple activity like watering your plants or garden can be a relaxing and meditative activity.

Start from a simple activity like having your favorite cup of coffee.

How will it benefit you?

As you try to incorporate Mindfullness into your daily life and start from the smaller things like drinking a glass of water, sipping your favorite tea, playing with children, chatting and laughing with friends, you will start feeling more energetic and vitalised. Problems like absent-mindedness, forgetfullness, anxiety, stress and it's related health issue will start to fade away with time. You will start noticing the good things in life that you were ignoring before and hence would be able to cultivate gratitude for the life you have right now. Problem solving would be easier as you would be more optimistic and focused.

It's not easy as it seems!

Though, it may be simple to follow it's not easy to incorporate on a daily basis as it requires persistent effort. Our brains are wired to worry, feel anxious, panic upon facing stressors and on a whole we face many problems in our personal, professional lives. But the key is to be consistent in making efforts repeatedly. You will lose focus and fail several times. But as we know good things take time. So, always take off from where you left off and don't be discouraged if you fail. All the best!
