Updated on July 20, 2014

Law of attraction background

There is no originator of law of attraction .According to Wikipedia the term law of attraction was first used in 1879 in the New York Times, describing the wagon trains of the Colorado gold rush as moving in obedience to some occult law of attraction. In 1937 Napoleon Hill in his book “think and grow rich” mentioned the law of attraction as a kind of energy which helps to attract similar things in life and achieve success. It was not until 2006 when the movie “The Secret” made LOA a popular tool to the path of success. Since then many life coaches and gurus claiming themselves as the master of LAW of Attraction. You will learn about some of the prominent figures in this field at the end part of this post.

Does it really work?

There is no straight forward answer to it. If you have the faith in power of believe then it works, otherwise not. The theme of LOA is thinking positively. And it has been scientifically proven that positive thinking has a major effect on the outcome of any events.Though many try to relate law of attraction with quantum mechanics based on the principle that every thought has a frequency ,got the power to communicate with similar thoughts existing in this universe.I think that is yet to be proved because the human brain generated frequency has extremely low energy level to communicate with the rest of the world.Yet I believe the positivity can alter the mood and charge up our mind or got the the power to take our mind to a different energy level to accomplish any seemingly difficult task.

Power of Positive thinking research outcome

In Feb 3, 1987, the New York Times published a research report on the power of positive thinking. On that report Edward E Jones, a psychologist at Princeton University said, " our expectancies not only affect how we see reality but also affect the reality itself". A research conducted on a group of people has shown that blaming for one's own misfortune makes one more susceptible to disease.

What is law of attraction (LOA)

The main theme of law of attraction is like attracts like which means similar thoughts attracts similar thoughts, people, events ,circumstances in anyone’s life.In fact LOA is everywhere in everyone’s life no matter the person is aware of it or not. The most important part of law of attract is that you always need to think positive and believe in your goals without having any doubts in your mind. According to this law the key to achieve your goal is to repeat the thought of your goal again and again in your mind and holding to the feelings of imagining as if you have already achieved it. Creative visualization and affirmation in achieving goals are the two most popular techniques used by many people and recommended by masters of LOA.

Some of the popular definition of law of attraction

-Like attracts like.

-Thoughts attract corresponding situations and circumstances.

-You receive what you actually think of most of your time.

- Positive thoughts attract positive events. Negative thoughts attract negative events.

- Entertaining the feelings and thoughts of obstacles , then this is what you get.

-By keep thinking and expecting of success, not allowing doubts enter the mind, will ultimately lead us to achieve success.

- It is not enough just to wish for something, you need strong desire and faith to manifest what you want.

-If we want our thoughts to manifest, we need to repeat them in our mind, and add feelings, desire and interest to our thoughts.

-Our mind acts like a magnet and attracts things or situations towards us according to the nature of our past thoughts.

How to use law of attraction to achieve your goal?

There are three basic steps in LOA and those are:

1) Ask what you want

2) Believe in that what you want soon be with you.

3) Be ready your mind to accept what you wanted to receive.

Methods of using LOA

1) Visualization

2) Affirmation

Before starting the methods you must be crystal clear in your mind exactly what you want. Don’t set any goal in your mind that you have doubt that if you really want in real or not. If you are cent percent sure that you want to achieve the goal then start using LOA either by visualization or

LOA using Visualization

The most powerful technique in LOA is visualizing the fulfillment of your goal . The first step of visualization is to find your goal and make a action plan to achieve it. You must take a few minutes of your day to imagine that you have achieve your goal .Try to take a mental picture of the day of your success and hold on to the feelings that you will feel the moment you will reach your goal. Most importantly try to interact with the day of your success in your mind. Try to feel your friends are congratulating on your success.

But this visualization in not all you need to do you must not forget the action plan you have made to achieve your goal and must work on that plan. The only explanation I can give you that is visualization accelerate the execution plan of your goal by drawing favorable circumstances or persons towards you. Visualization raise you positive vibration level in your mind and holding on to that positive emotion is the key to success. The more times a day you can try visualization and the more times or minutes you can hold the magical position emotion in your mind the faster you will reach your goal.

Law of Attraction Affirmation

Affirmation is writing your desires or goal in positive sentence in present tence. This technique has tremendous power to affect our mind in achieving goal, because we are writing and reading them at the same time, so its like a double hit of energy. It works using messages delivered straight to your subconscious mind. If you repeat them regularly you can begin to reprogram your mind to have and maintain a positive thought pattern which helps attract your desires.

Take a note book and write any affirmation you want to write. Use your name in the affirmation and try writing it in first, second and third persons. For example: I, John, a successful writer and scientist. John, you are a successful writer and scientist. John is a successful writer and scientist.Try to write is 8-10 times and at the end you can sign it.

Concentrate on the meaning of the words as you write affirmation. Try to notice whether you feel any doubts or negative thoughts about what you are writing. Whenever you feel any negative thought about your affirmation , instantly write it down and also write why you think that your affirmation will not work. Then try to write some affirmation about your negative thoughts. For example you want to be a successful business man like you brother and if you think that you are not good enough. Then write , my brother is proud and happy about my success. Keep working on writing the affirmation for once or twice a day for a few days. Once you feel that you negative thoughts are gone then keep writing your original affirmation about your goal like “ I, John, is a very successful businessman and my business is growing every month. Thanks to all for my continuous success”.

Points to remember about affirmation

  • Affirmations must be stated positively
  • Example : instead of saying "I am not fat" say "My body is getting slimmer, and healthier every day."
  • Try to actively think of ways to integrate your affirmations into your everyday life. For example: 'I am wise' or 'I am really wise', etc
  • When using affirmations you may find that your brain is rejecting something starting with “I” like “I am a talented singer” . Instead use the new affirmation like “people consider me very talented singer”.
  • Adding some emotion in affirmations work best. Try to Feel the feeling you will experience once you actually receive your desire.
  • You can combine visualization exercises with positive affirmations. Visualization adds another dimension to the affirmations to assist
manifestation. The subconscious mind cannot tell the difference
between the real and the imagined
  • Make your affirmation visible to you so it can help you focus your mind towards your goal.Place affirmations in places where you can see them often like screen-saver in computer, carrying notes of your affirmation ,stick them on your mirror or whatever you find suitable .

At the end it's important to keep in mind that no matter which method of LOA you are using, repetition is the key to success, the more repetition the better; the quicker you will start to replace your old negative beliefs with new empowering ones the sooner you will reach your goals.
