Running will help you to stay in shape, and it will also help you to feel great. If you haven’t run before, and you don’t feel up to it, don’t despair, because there’s always hope. First of all, make an appointment at your doctor for a complete medical check-up. After that, you can start slow, and gradually ease yourself into the exhilarating process of running. Step by awesome step. It’s not that difficult !

Running Is Enjoyable

When it comes to running, don’t try to do too much too soon. Rome wasn’t built in a day! Build up to it slowly and steadily. After a warming up session, try running three kilometers everyday for more or less three weeks, and after that, try running five kilometers everyday for more or less three weeks, and so on. It’s not easy, but if you persevere, you will most definitely reap the great benefits, and you may even find to your surprise that you enjoy running.

Many scientists believe that by doing exercise, some effects of ageing can be reversed. That is such good news! That’s a great incentive to start running.

If you run for a couple of kilometers, and you start panting from exertion, and you feel that you can’t go on any longer, then it’s okay to stop running and to start walking, and as soon as you feel ready to start running again, then go for it, and run at a pace you can manage. Running can be strenuous, and your body needs time to adjust, and if you keep at it, then you may find after a couple of weeks that it can be quite stimulating, and you’ll start looking forward to your running sessions. That’s what’s so incredibly wonderful about running.

When running, you may want to try a different route every so often, to banish boredom, and when you’ve been running for a couple of weeks, and your body is used to it, you may want to include a couple of uphills in your running sessions. A whole lot of personal discipline is needed when it comes to running, and some people need to really motivate themselves into action. But guess what? You will feel so victorious and your overall well-being will feel so enhanced, and you will know without a shadow of a doubt, that running is for you.

      I also think that running can be enjoyable. The trick that works for me is to combine running with walking. I do a sort of interval workout, where I run for a few minutes then walk to recuperate. In time I hope to work up to longer running intervals.
