Have you ever heard of the Sardine Diet? Neither did I until I began researching high protein diets. One of these that really stood out to me was the Sardine Diet.
The Sardine Diet takes advantage of the fact that sardines are very high in Omega-3 fats, easy to digest proteins, and lots of calcium. All three of these are not only great for you, but also reduce hunger.
The "Sardine Diet" avoids one of the main problems with other diets based on fish. Many other fish would be great for dieting except for one problem. Most are high in mercury. Sardines do not have this problem as they do not consume much mercury in their foraging.
You should include the sardines in two of your three meals each day, while combining them with vegetables. The vegetables will help provide fiber and other nutrients that are missing in sardines. The third meal of the day should be nuts, eggs, or some other healthy source of protein. This will provide you with some variety also.
The most important thing in dieting is not only to reduce calories, but to reduce your consumption of carbohydrates. Proteins and healthy fats help control hunger throughout the day and keep your strength up.
I am not into bodybuilding, but there is something to be learned from it. Most bodybuilders use a high protein diet to reduce fat. A particular political group tried to scare people into avoiding high protein diets by claiming that it was bad for the kidneys, but this myth has totally been debunked. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of people, including doctors, that have not kept up on the latest science. They still believe that a lot of protein is bad for you. Don't listen to them. If you want to look and feel great, protein is your best friend!
