Soda CAN Cause CANCER!?

Updated on November 10, 2012

So as most people know, Soda, such as Pepsi, Coke, ect. are not all that good for you. They contain something called "High-Fructose Corn Syrup" which can, and does cause diabetes among other problems for our bodies. Despite what them BS commercials say, YOUR body CAN tell the difference. It can't digest man made sugar so it is stored in the body, WHICH IS WHY IT MAKES YOU FAT!

Yet, corn syrup isn't the culprit here, its a synthetic color that is used in MOST soda's. It's called "Caramel-Color". Most people think, "Hey, caramel has health benefits!" WELL THIS ONE DON'T! Caramel-color is made by mixing ammonia and sugar. It's base is so toxic it WILL destroy you immune system and yes, CAUSE CANCER. It is linked to lung, liver and thyroid cancers. EVEN LEUKEMIA!

The process also produces 2-methylimidazole and 4-methylimidazole. These are what cause the cancer. The toxic level is 16 micrograms and guess what? One 20oz bottle has 400 micrograms of this junk!

The Science for Public Interest has filed a petition to ban this crap from soda yet the FDA only said they will think about it.

The FDA, to me, stands for "Federal DEATH Association". They do not care about you, they just want the money in your wallet.

So next time your at the store, think twice about buying soda. I personally stopped drinking it a few months ago and don't plan to ever drink it again. Keep your kids away from the junk. Your better off drinking Kool-Aid at this point.

Yeah, I hope so! The caramel color is just what its name implies... Its for color so they really don't need to add anything for that and as for HFCS... They can use regular sugar like in throw back pepsi. I actually love Jones soda, its hard to find though. They don't have nearly as much crap in them. I haven't had one for probably 3 years. I would like to get some for a once in awhile treat. They have bubble gum flavor which I LOVE! lol

I liked your chemical research very much. It makes your information more grounded.

When they won't use the caramel color and stop use high fructose... they will replace those with... who knows what they would use. I hope something less damaging. Let's hope hard. :-)

Thanks jantamaya! I tend to over research chemicals and while most take A LOT to effect the body, this one does not so I figured it was worth sharing. They are suposta do away with caramel color in the next year and hopefully stop the high fructose as well.

I've instinctively never liked and almost never drunk soda or soft drinks. Your hub confirms my doing. Thanks for writing it.

Thanks for the comment Jet! Some people laugh at me for choosing not to drink soda ever again but I just smile because I value my health and respect their choices to live dangerously! Soon as I learned what soda really was, much like alcohol, I gave it up. I'll stick with my water and occasional healthy juice. :)

I agree! I chose V8 and Naked Protein Juice over soda. At first, it was like a chore. But now, I prefer it! It's all about conditioning yourself for the better.

Thanks for the comment Jet. Yes, good thing! I think people shouldn't drink it at all and if they do, only on occasion like once or twice a month. I'm talking 1 or 2 cans a month... lol not liters!

I love soda, even though I know it's not good for me. Anyways, where is the evidence backing up the statements you made above?

      Do you have any links?

      Any studies?

      Test results?

      Chemistry?

      lol.
