Stop Stress Dead In Its Tracks
Recommended Stress Resources
Does this sound familiar…?
- I’m so stressed out!
- I feel like I can’t breathe.
- My chest feels like it weighs a ton.
- If only I didn’t have so much on me right now.
- I’m so tired.
- My neck and shoulders ache.
- Why can’t I seem to get everything done?
- I can’t find a minute to sit down and rest.
This is a list of things I hear a lot of stressed out people saying. You can probably add your own list to these. Stress is a horrible thing that bothers a lot of people. And yet many people simply live with the daily stress, not knowing how to stifle it, and never taking the time to learn how to deal with it.
If you’ve been struggling with trying to keep a handle on things while the stress levels in your life just keep rising more and more every day, I’ve got some quick tips to help you out. These aren’t end-all methods, but they will certainly help you to learn how to deal with, and therefore stop stress, dead in its tracks.
Dump part of your work load. This is often the hardest step for many people to take. Nobody wants to admit that they can’t handle their work or job. But the truth is, for many people, a job causes a tremendous amount of stress. Find ways to delegate tasks to fellow workers or pass along the ones you don’t particularly enjoy to someone else who is competent in doing them for you.
Do something nice for yourself. One of the biggest reasons why a lot of people feel stressed out all the time is because they are constantly giving to others and never receiving anything for themselves. You have to give back to yourself if you don’t want to be stressed out all the time. No matter how what it might be, do something that you want to do for a change.
Stay away from negative people. A negative attitude will drain you faster than anything. Hang around somebody who doesn’t have anything good to say for too long and you’ll find yourself thinking those same nasty, negative thoughts, too. Stay away from people like this and you’ll soon discover that you don’t feel nearly as stressed.
Be in control. When you are placed in a situation where you feel like you have absolutely no control (over yourself or the situation), you will immediately feel stress. Regardless of where you are, or what you’re doing, remind yourself often that you are in control. Don’t let anyone walk all over you or tell you to do something you don’t want to do.
