Summer Energy Battery Charger
Although summer is here depending on where you're located, your body energy may not be at its best.
Busy schedules, family, job, partner, anger and more can all bring on bouts of low energy even though the sun is shining and we normally should feel full of energy and sparkle.
The sun and light of summer acts as a battery charger for most of us, but for some there are situations or circumstances that have stopped their batteries from charging properly.
Luckily it's something that can quickly be boosted and I've compiled a few ideas that have helped me when my energy levels were down. These ideas may give food for thought for others that are experiencing low energy.
Dropping the Sugar
Do you have a bit of a sweet tooth? Sugar provides briefly a lot of energy and makes you happier for an instant, because it increases the amount of serotonin in the brain, which is a neurotransmitter that makes you feel really good.
This good feeling is unfortunately short-lived, because the sugar is absorbed quickly into the body, consequently decreasing the concentration of sugar in the blood, where you will again feel the urge to eat.
In this way, fast carbohydrates like sweets and white bread make your blood sugar unstable, As a result of eating them you will quickly become tired and lethargic if you try to boost your energy with for example a bar of chocolate.
So if you give up sugar and fast carbs, you are making sure that your blood sugar becomes more balanced and you'll as a result get much more energy.

Adequate Sleep Is Essential
It's worth repeating that getting enough sleep is crucial to the body. Without a proper night's sleep, it's difficult to build up the energy needed to handle daily activities. We're all unique so obviously, the amount of sleep we need individually is different, but on average we each should aim for about 7 to 8 hours sleep on a daily basis.
If you have trouble sleeping, avoid coffee, tea and cola after 6 pm. A cup of coffee is a stimulant in the morning, but it's probably going to keep you awake at night. Leave your laptop in the office and don't take it to bed as this will also keep you awake, you know how the hours pass quickly when you're using the computer.
Try to make some regular rituals before going to bed so you get into a rhythm. Subconsciously this will get you ready for sleep.
If you get too little sleep during the night, chances are you're going to eat far more the next day to build up your energy levels.
Clean up mental energy drainers
Bitterness and anger drains you of energy. Both conscious and unconscious negative thoughts about yourself and others, suck the energy out of you and steals the space you need for new positive thoughts that produce good, positive energy.
Forgive yourself and others involved in old conflicts. To be able to generate positive energy, clear out any unresolved conflicts as this is a prerequisite that enables you to think positive thoughts.
A good exercise to train yourself to think positively is a gratitude list. Make it every night, just before going to bed. Write down a minimum of 20 good things that happened during the day.
When you write so many things down, you force yourself to appreciate the little things. Practice makes perfect, so the more times you do it, the better you get at it.
Besides teaching you to focus on positive thoughts, the list is also calming and helps to make sure that you go to bed feeling happy.
Are You kidding yourself?
Do you use a lot of time considering the pros and cons of doing the things that give you energy. Do you also have a lot of excuses, which means that you are perhaps sitting around and nibbling at not really healthy foods? By asking yourself the right questions, you can cheat your mind.
Two questions to ask yourself that knock out all the excuses are: "Does this one give me more energy or less energy?" and "Am I doing this because I love myself, or am I doing to sabotage myself?"
It always works when you ask yourself the question, where the only answer you can give is the correct answer. This knocks out all the forms of rationalizing, excuses and other tactics when we ask a question that always gives the correct answer. We get to the truth. There is no way around it.
When you choose the bag of candy over another jogging session, even this will give you more energy because you are acting in accordance with your integrity and the person who you are and want to be.
If you decide that you want to live a healthier life, this gives you the power to act in accordance with that wish. You get more energy to be proud of yourself, while it drains you to be disappointed because you did not live up to your expectations. So set yourself a goal and live up to it!
Laughing is Inner Jogging
Surround yourself with people who make you laugh - because laughing is inner jogging. Laughter releases endorphins, which are the body's own hormone for happiness that in turn make you happy and provides positive, quick energy and counteracts fatigue. Find out what makes you laugh so you can enjoy the release of more endorphins.
Actually its equally effective to fake a laugh. If you think it's hard to force a false laugh, start to straighten up, starting to smile and put the body in the same physical condition as it is when you're really happy. You'll soon be really laughing.
Interacting with Others
We humans are herd animals and therefore function best when we're with others, particularly people we care about. This gives us a lot of positive energy. When we are together with others, we gain a sense of cohesion and love. A feeling which must be present so that we can feel happy.
Another booster of energy is volunteering. When you give and contribute what you can for the good of others, without wanting anything back, your sense of energy is enhanced. The same is true if you're driven by or spend time on something you are passionate about.
Exercise Alternatives and Fresh Air
You don't have to train for a marathon or pump iron to get exercise. Taking the stairs instead of elevator, biking instead of car, even vacuuming or cleaning the windows at home all count as exercising.
When you move around, the brain releases endorphins and dopamine, which makes you happier and helps you to think faster. If you can, take a jog or a long walk outdoors, especially when the sun shines, as the sun triggers the body's production of vitamin D. This vitamin puts you both in good spirits and strengthens the immune system.
Are you tired and lethargic during the afternoon at work, then go for a short walk in the fresh air if you have the chance. It not only gives you more energy, but it also improves your concentration and helps to reduce your stress levels.
Sex Gives Lots of Energy
Sex provides plenty of energy - if it's good sex. During sex hormone released oxitocin which is stress-reducing and makes us relax. Oxitocin also released when we touch each other, so a good massage can be really good for building energy and bringing you closer to each other.
If you're in a relationship and are not enjoying much sex or don't prioritize it, plan your way out of it. Sex once a week is better than no sex, and the more you grow it, the more pleasure you get.
Use your imagination and make a plan for how you want to seduce your partner. If you organize a plan and don't follow it, it will just be as usual. No sex!
Sex at 11 pm might not be good sex, because you have a very busy schedule, you're all tuckered out after a hard day at work. Maybe one of you has been stressed or had problems at work, which preoccupies the mind or if you are a family, plan to have sex at other times.
Good sex requires creativity, otherwise it becomes boring and the energy to do it dwindles and then you're back to square one.

Cherries and chocolate are two delicious energy boosters. Cherries are one of few sources of melatonin, a natural hormone produced when we sleep and has an effective and beneficial effect on how we sleep. A good night's sleep gives energy and melatonin, which is also linked with cherries zinc act as a natural happy pill.
In chocolate you'll also find various substances which give a good mood and energy. Chocolate with a cocoa content of more than 80 percent stimulates a high volume production of cocoa-endorphins, which is the body's natural morphine. It stimulates the brain's pleasure center and makes you happy and also reduces your sensitivity to pain.
