The Deception Of An Addiction

It seem harmless to have one glass of wine, it seem harmless to have one cigarette, it may even seem harmless to play card games at a casino, what you don’t know is all of these can lead to addictions. There are many addictions in the world today; you have alcohol, drugs of all kind, cigarettes, gambling, etc... Addictions lead to addicts. An addict is a person who over indulges in any activity whereby it becomes habit forming.

When you say you want to try something one time, be careful and think about it long and hard, because this is deception at work. If you like the activity you are trying, you know just as well as I do, that you’re going to do it more than once. If you don’t be careful, the activity that you are engaging in can become habit forming, meaning you can’t stop doing it. When it has developed to this stage, you are a full blown addict.

When you here of addictions, you automatically associate it with alcohol, cocaine, crack, or tobacco, but you can be addicted to almost anything, just to name a few, you can be addicted to television, sex, gossiping, caffeine, playing video games, and the list goes on and on. Whether you realize it or not there is a deception when it comes up to addictions, I don’t care how strong you think you are, if you don’t stay aware, and in control of your actions, some of these addictions will deceive you as well.

They say an addiction is the same as having a sickness. You start off in something, and say I’m in control, but remember tied to this word addiction should be the words cunning and deception. If you keep doing the same things over and over again until you can’t help yourself, or it becomes habit forming, know that you are in the grasp hold of an addiction.  If you feel you have been overtaken with an addiction, there are plenty of 12 step programs where you can seek help.  if you don't know how to contact a 12 step program, you could always use the internet to find these programs. if you are dealing with alcohol, type in alcohol annonymous, or if you're dealing with drugs, try narcotics annonymous.  There are many programs out there for whatever you are addicted to
