The Magic Of Breath

Updated on January 13, 2010

We do this activity everyday. Although we don't move our body we still doing this activity. Taking breath is important for our life. Imagine if we don't take a breath for a couple of minutes. There is a subject about this in my lesson. I also give this subject to my student. We still alive when we don't eat for a day, how if don't take a breath for a day. They all answer "we all going to die". This is just for small introduction about taking a breath.

Now I want to talk about "the magic of breath", this is the benefit by taking a breath. There is a secret by doing this simple activity. All activities we had done everyday often bring stress. Stress have big influence on our body and our health. The effect often negative.

If we get sore that never healed, the body felt uncomfortable, always bad dream or nightmare, often fight with others, the skin not fresh anymore, all that sign we may getting stress. This kind of this stress can be one of the most influence factor for unhappiness. This often happen to us with hard work, chasing by the deadline. there are many problem in life, bad relationship, broken heart and many factor cause this stress.

Many research had done by the expert to reduce stress. Ranging from food and various exercise suggested. But there are simple things we missed from our attention, Breathe. This is simple method, right?

This Technique also introduced by the Yoga. Take a breath is known to help the flow of blood in the body. As we know the blood carrying oxygen. And the oxygen circulated throughout the body.

If the blood flow smoothly, the oxygen will channeled properly to the brain. This will help us reducing stress. With a sufficient supply of oxygen to the brain, the organs, especially the lungs will function better.

Breathing had proven to eliminate the stress. Certainly not in a short time. But with regular exercise, we can reduce our stress.

How the magical breath work, follow the step below.

  • Prepare a special time to do this breathing activity. We have to distinguish between normal breath with this breath. Because this is a breathing with deep breath. It give us time to relax for approximately 5-10 minutes. Determine the best time to do this activity, because we'll do it two times a day.
  • Wear clothing which make us free. Nightwear is suitable for this activity. A comfortable models allow us to take a breath freely.
  • Turn off all electronic devices that produce much noise and can disturb us, such as mobile phones, television, radio, etc.
  • We can set the sitting, standing or supine position. Make sure all your body feel relaxed. Relax all the muscles in your body.
  • Start with close your eyes, then pull a deep breath. Feel each your breath. Try to pull and exhaled your breath with the same period. Calculate how many seconds you pulled and exhaled breath. Concentrate your mind on your breath. Do it for 5-10 minutes.

Simple thing like breathe give us a magic effect. If we do this regularly, we can eliminate our stress. You will feel more refreshed and ready for your activities again. I have a big hope the stress wouldn't happen to us. And we feel comfortable enjoy this life...Amen.
