Bucket List
Bits and Bobs crossed off my list
I've watched the miracle of my sons being born and cut the cords! I've flown in a plane! I've sailed on a ship! I've kissed the most beautiful woman in the world! I married my princess! I've climbed a mountain or two! I save countless lives when I donate blood. I've riden a motorbike too fast! I've driven a car too fast! I've donated blood stem cells to a complete stranger! I wipe away the tears when my granddaughter cries! I put sticking plasters on cut knees! I work hard! I work late! I've got drunk! I learned to walk! I learned to talk! I learned to cry! I'm learning to listen!
I'd like to learn to speak 'Welsh.'
It all started with these two chaps!
The Bucket List is a comedy film made in 2007 and was directed by Rob Reiner. The touching film starred Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. The plot of the film follows two terminally ill men (Nicholson and Freeman) on their road trip with a wish list of things to do before they 'kick the bucket.'
This film has inspired many people including me to write their own bucket list!
I often wonder how many of these lists will have all of the 'to do's' crossed off!
I don't often use fancy words because I don't really know any and I want my list to be usable!
I'm a man of simple means, not particularly complicated though my wife might argue against that point!
My list isn't fancy or extreme and includes items that I think are achievable before I kick that bucket.
I'll go out of my way to achieve a couple of my goals but the rest will be tasked on a day to day basis.
I'll need it.. I already have the fear of failure in my mind and it's such a simple list.
'To Do'
The trials of the daily rat race ensures a gruelling feat of willpower will be required! I'll try not to allow myself to be stressed but to Mellow out!
I know I can do this, I've seen the old photo's of me doing it! I'm told a smile speaks volumes!
I've never helped an old lady across the road! I need to work at this one!
I promise not to swear at other stupid road users who are always at fault! I'll play it calm from now on and not even offensively gesticulate.
I never heard my granddad curse or swear and I looked up to him. If he can do it so can I.
I'm often told that I don't understand the meaning of the word 'NO'. I think everyone likes to have their own way and I'm no exception. Learn to understand 'NO'
I like to think of myself as a giver not a taker! Selfishness is an instinct and we are naturally born takers! For me this may be a difficult bridge to cross!
It's all to easy to lean on your loved ones and not noticing what they want!. I promise to open my eyes and ears and close my mouth.
Do I come across as irritable? I haven't the time, and its much to difficult to be patient! I'll look into it when I next have the opportunity.
Stiff upper lip. Bite bottom lip. Count to ten. Look beyond the personality! Search for their point of view. That one should be quite easy to achieve.
'Always to do'
I try to be good but if I see a bloke tripping over in the street and falling over flat on his face I have to laugh, it's natural. After wiping the tears from my eyes I'd go and offer help.
I think I'm already kind but I don't really give it much thought! I'd help a stranger if they were distressed.
I'm a Gentleman, so gentle is second nature, I can do this one easily! I'm gentle with my wife and the ones I love. I'll extend it to include everyone.
I need to work on this one! After all, always is a very long time!
Keeping life simple
is my magic key to success! I'm not an action packed hero with a rippling 6 pack and bulging biceps! I'm not a millionaire with money burning a hole in my pocket with an entourage like Madonna's! I am but a mere middle aged mortal counting the penny's and my blessings. There are other things that I'd like to do, but I lack that sense of sheer determination to get out there and kick ass! I'll happily settle for a little bit more in dribs and drabs, this list is just the start.
