The Pandemic COVID 19

Updated on March 30, 2020

What is COVID 19?

What is COVID-19 and where did it come from?

COVID-19 is the illness taking the world by storm and impacting us all. COVID-19 first came to light in China back in late 2019. Experts say this is a new strain of the flu but, more deadly. There have been reports of it being more serious to older people like the elderly or, those with underlined health issues. However, now there have been cases with younger people dying with no heath issues at all.

There are multiple reports of children and women being carries of the disease without symptoms and passing it to others. Which is very scary also the fact that noone knows how the disease will affect your body when you get it. The news changes by the hour on this crisis. What's really scary is that the U.S. has surpassed China on affections and death. Where as China is almost fully recovered.

How has this impacted the world

How has this crisis affected humanity ?

The crisis is affecting people in many different ways physically and emotionally. People across the globe are running scared and panicking. The groceries stores are no longer fully stocked. People are hoarding everything from water and toilet paper to milk and even bleach. There have even been fist fights over the last can of beans. I went to the drug store the other day and couldn't even find feminine products. There have also been jobs lost and school shut down completely. In more serious cases some states.

What does this all mean?

What does the lost of jobs mean for the economy? There are entire state's that are shut down including New York and California not to mention countries China, Italy, and Spain. Grocery stores are making a lot money now but, what about everyone else? What about the workers who are put in harm's way who are still getting affected by this crisis? Now employers are starting to pay their employees hazard pay but, is it really worth it?

What's happening now?

What's happening in the mean time?

Well in the mean time people are either working from or, laid off from work. Thousands of people are now on unemployed. Unfortunately not everyone is getting paid leave or, unemployement insurance. So many people are applying and there not enough money for everyone. We can only receive that for so long. The government has sent out a stimulus package however, that can only go so far. Mortgages and rent have been deferred for now but have to be paid later. Which is going to be hard to do, especially when most of us live paycheck to paycheck.

How can we stop the spread?

Well for starters we can do what the mayor and the governor for telling us to do social distance . Although a lot of us especially the younger crowed are not listening very well . The Mayor of California has even closed parks and beaches to try to protect everyone from this crisis. All we can do is take precautions and hope that our numbers start to drop. In order do that we have our part by social distancing or, " flatten the curve".

What happens next

What's next for us?

Everything is so uncertain at these times all we can do is hope this will be over soon. We have to use universal precautions washing your hands covering up our nose we have to sneeze or cough and stain 6 feet away. The new reality is this is how the world is right now. We have to adapt to the new way of living.

How has this changed us?

Well for me this is put a lot into perspective how short and fragile life really is. I have been keeping myself busy , updating my YouTube channel starting my own blog , thinking about what really matters. It really makes you think about life and what you want to make it. If you want to do something do it, now is the time.

In conclusion what have we all learned from this crisis ? I have learned that life is so precious and to never take anything for granted. I want you to ask yourself what have you learned ? Have you found yourself? What will you do differently ? What will stay the same after all this is over ? I hope this brings us together as people because lets face it, we need to better as humanity. Instead of attacking each other on social media over a difference of opinion, or attacking Asian Americans over this crisis. Which is not only ignorant but, incredibly sad. We need to come together. This is happening to all of us. Rather you are America, Asian, or Italian. We are all in this together.
