The Truth About NutriSystem

Updated on September 4, 2011

NutriSystem The Truth

What is NutriSystem

NutriSystem is a diet and weight loss program that claims like many others before it to be the easiest way to lose weight, it also claims to be different from any other weight loss program because it focuses on the Glycemic Index, which for people like you and me means sugar in the blood.

Some Carbohydrates contain sugars that break down slowly in the bloodstream and others contain sugars that break down fast, The NutriSystem Program believes that the sugars in your bloodstream that breakdown too quickly are bad for you and they cause a spike in the levels of your bodies Insulin levels and they cause your body to store fat, and they make you feel hungry soon after eating.

Slower burning sugars keep your blood sugar levels even and this helps to break down fats, it also helps to beat off the feeling of hunger.

The NutriSystem is based around The slower burning sugars, it is a low Glycemic diet topped up with protiens and fiber which is low fat and it provides all of your nutritional needs.

Does NutriSystem Work?

There are many many people who have successfully lost weight with Nutrisystem, and there are many that have tried it and failed, like any diet or even fitness programme, self control is an important factor, if you stick with the diet plan and follow the advice in the brochures then you will have a good chance of losing those extra pounds, if you don't then you cannot blame the diet plan for your failure.

The NutriSystem is a good diet regime to take on if you have self control and the will to shed a few pounds, but the same can be said for sticking to a regular calorie controlled diet, joining a community of like minded people and giving each other moral support helps you and the rest of the group with their weight loss regime, weight watchers or other community weight programmes are a good alternative.

Recent Complaints About NutriSystem

Recently there have been a few complaints about NutriSystem, but not because people have not lost weight, the complaints were centered on the food packs, mainly stating that the foods were bland, that there was very little flavour and that there is very little variety in the choice of foodstuffs provided in the packs. The complaints also stated that the foods tasted very salty.

The Truth About NutriSystem

Bland food and very little Variety but which diet do you know of that isn't the same? that is what makes a diet difficult to stick too.

NutriSystem keep to the health authorities recommended daily salt intake in their diet plans.

NurtiSystem is a good all round balanced diet which if kept to can help in your weight loss efforts.

Nutrisystem is expensive and there are cheaper and just as effective methods of weight loss out there on the market , including sticking to a calorie controlled diet the old fashioned way.

Conclusion

NutriSystem works if you work with it, but so do many other dieting regimes, the diet you choose is not important, it is you and your power of control that decides if the weight will come off or not.

NutriSystem is not particularly cheap either. Most plans cost $290 to $340 per month.

We ordered one box of Nutrisystem to try

The food was so horrible We just could not eat it. We called and canceled further shipments.

With out permission, Nutrisystem charged our bank account $333.98, when we called and asked what the charge was for Nutrisystem told us that we had a standing order and they filled it.

We told them we canceled further shipments they argued with us and told her us did not cancel we just put our account on hold.

We told Nutrisystem the fact is that we canceled further shipments but added if we had put our account on hold, why would Nutrisystem ship another box with out permission, they did not have an answer to that question.

Now we have to go through a big ordeal that we do not have time to deal with and we are so far out $333.98.

It looks to us like their sales team have quotas to meet and will not take no for an answer

We will be filling complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the State attorney Generals Office both in their State and our state

All we can say is buyer be ware we do not trust this company and question their ethics.

this is our second time on nutrisytem. my husband and I lost both lost weight, the food is not wonderful, but it isn't bad either- it says you can add seasonings, since they have no caleries- texjoy steak seasoning is good on anything :)- we are excited to do it again because we have no teenagers in the house and don't have the hassle of cooking for someone else- i think it will work a lot better for us- all dieting is, is common sense- portion control- unfortunately we didn't have the control on our own- it amazes me how people try it for a week or 1 month and get mad because they don't lose a lot of weight-you have to get the water weight off first and then u have to excersice

I received a promotional offer from Nutrisystem in the mail for "1 week free," prompting me to check out their website. On the normal website, the price listed for a 4-week program was $239, but I couldn't find a way to enter the promotion code for the free week. Looking closer at the offer, it gave a web address that took me straight to the promotional offer for "1 week free." The pricing on this separate page was $299. When I used their online customer service chat function to try to understand the discrepancy, the representative first agree that the current price was $239, then began to adamantly declare the price was $299, and I could choose my promotion for "1 week free" or their "rollback price" of $239 - the current price. Confusing and deceptive - I wouldn't trust a company that tries to pull the wool over their customers' eyes like this on the front end to do the right thing in helping me achieve my weight loss goals. Buyer beware!

Great hub, thanks Jimmy. A friend of mine is considering using Nutrisystem to work off some of those pounds she gained over the holidays. Doesn't seem appealing to me, but there is a lot of interest out there.

I've not tried the diet myself, but my mother tried them all. Most of them work.... if you stick with it for a very long time. I think the problem is sticking with it for as long as need be, because as soon as you return to "normal" eating your weight come flying back. Why is it that it takes so long to lose it and such a short amount of time to gain it?

I just started reading Kevin Trudeau's book, "The Weight Loss Cure, "They" Don't Want You to Know About". So far it sounds relatively simple. I just started writng a HUb about it, but need to read more before I can finish it. I should be able to get it done soon.

Any how, great article about Nutri System. It works if you work it.
