Top 2 Superfoods – Great Health starts with Good food

Updated on May 29, 2020

Why eat healthy?

I know it's easy said than done, with easy access to so much tasty junk food. Eating healthy is crucial for your mind and body. It’s simple, the food or type of foods you choose to eat daily determines how you feel, what energy you have and can be considered as a checking mechanism to your overall health and well being. Eating a lot of junk food, don’t be surprised when you suffer lack energy or feel totally drained.

Generally accepted that the population is getting fatter (I like using that word) - should be overweight. Leading to many social issues, like health care costs, medical complications etc.

Fad diets are easy to adopt but difficult to maintain and long term people tend to resort back to old habits. This is why I recommend that we all try to adopt healthy food choices into our daily diets - starting with including easy superfoods that will tackle key areas where one is susceptible to eating unhealthy choices.

For example, while watching TV it's easy to munch on some crisps or chocolates - instead, replace it with the 2 superfoods mentioned below. Another example is when driving or in the office and you feel peckish, take the 2 superfoods rather than unhealthy options.

Selecting healthy foods like the 2 Superfoods mentioned below at the right levels, you’ll notice feeling more energy. Eating healthy foods regularly is key for feeling good and staying healthy long term.

Eat healthy foods regularly, engage in daily moderate exercise at least, and find ways to de-stress this will keep you healthy and mobile for longer, your blood pressure in control and support you a healthy weight.

2 Superfoods you need to include in your healthy eating habit

Superfood 1 - Almonds

Almonds and more Almonds - these wonderful oval-shaped nuts are bursting with nutrients, excellent superfood. These rather tasty nuts contain calcium, equally high level of vitamin E, estimated for one serving providing 15 per cent RDA for vitamin E. IT can also boost your protein intake as Almonds are also a valuable source of protein.

Best option to consume these places a bag or bowl in your living room and indulge in this tasty superfood while watching your favourite Netflix show.

Superfood 2 - Pistachios

Ahhh... I love these, tasty nuts. These super green nuts are hiding lots of nutrition, protein and fibre. You can buy these superfoods in two forms either packed in a hard shell and you have to take them out and eat - which is fun, or you can get them already taken out of the shell and packed in bags for easy consumption.

Pistachios naturally cholesterol-free, packed full of healthy nutrients, the best thing is a 1-ounce serving of these superfood nuts have as much potassium as one small banana. I’ll discuss the benefits of consuming some of these nutrition’s in my other posts, for now, go and get yourself a pack and see what you have been missing in your healthy diet.

Superfood needs a partner

So, you start adding these top superfoods into your snack diet. You expect miracles - hate to say this buddy but it ain't gonna happen.

Along with eating healthy, you need to have a partner, that is exercise. You can eat as much superfood as you like and maintain a very healthy diet. But if you don't move those muscles and exert some pressure on your cardiovascular system you will see the benefits in your overall health.

The big lesson in this is - yes, eat healthily, take plenty of rest, and most exercise. Take up walking, running, hoovering the house (is a good exercise) - do something rather than just sitting all the time.

We are all becoming very sedentary, drive to work, sit all day at the desk, drive back home, get some food and sit watch TV, till we dose off. This habit needs to change... If you really want to improve your health and wellbeing.

Superfood Summary

We all know that eating healthy is very important. However many people still think that eating a healthy diet means a huge change in their lifestyle and eating habits.

That is not the case, in my view, start slowly, incorporate these little superfoods here and there during the day. Maintain a regular addition of healthy food choices to your daily diet. Over time you will have replaced all that sugar-laden, unhealthy food options with much better choices.

  • Eating healthy is important there are specific types of foods bursting with lots of nutrition you just need to find and gradually adopt into your daily munch.
  • 2 Superfoods for a healthy eating habit – Almonds and Pistachios - easily added to your snacking regime, like many of us do while watching TV.
  • Then aim to combine healthy breakfast, with a nutritious lunch and make sure you stay fit and active.
