Just What Is Activated Charcoal?

Don't rush out and grab some charcoal briquettes from the barbeque grill! You will wind up with a black face, not to mention a mouth full of black teeth.

Activated Charcoal is regular charcoal that is heated with gas that causes the charcoal to expand . It creates a porous surface that is able to trap toxins of many kinds. The capsules can be purchased easily from any drug store or ordered online.

How I Learned About Activated Charcoal

I first learned of the benefits of using activated charcoal from a friend who is a licensed Esthetician. She owns an upscale Spa, and as part of her job it is necessary for her to keep abreast of new developments in the field. She recently attended a national conference where she learned how to use activated charcoal to purify and enhance the skin. She is very excited to share this knowledge with her clients, and the ladies are excited to reap the benefits. They are very pleased with the results. The ladies are now sending their teenagers to her Spa to receive these activated charcoal facials to help heal their acne.

She is charging $150.00 for these facials. Even the older ladies swear their skin if much tighter and feels so much better. I will admit from my own experience, it did nothing to get rid of wrinkles, but I can certainly tell the lines around my mouth and eyes are diminished. I am happy about that!

I wish I had known of activated charcoal when I had two teenage girls who suffered from acne. I could have saved myself a lot of money I paid to numerous doctors for long term (and sometimes painful) treatment. It is easy to give yourself a facial using Activated Charcoal:

You Will Need:

A paper cup to mix the ingredients. I used a styrofoam bowl

2 Activated Charcoal capsules.

1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil (Any oil you like is fine; I just the smell of coconut oil)

A spoon to use for mixing. I used a plastic “throw away” spoon.

My granddaughter advises: If you have large pores, do not add any oil. Only use water. She had a difficult time getting the charcoal out of her pores.

Instructions For Activated Charcoal Facial

Instructions:

Mix activated chacoal, coconut oil together. Apply all over your face.

Leave on your face for 15 minutes.

Rinse well, using warm water on a face cloth.

If any of the charcoal gets on the sink or floor, it will come up with a little soap on a paper towel.

Don't worry about the charcoal staining the face cloth. It rinses right out.

I am using this facial twice a week.

How To Use The Activated Charcoal To Whiten Your Teeth

People are spending a fortune trying to get their teeth whitened. After using Activated Charcoal just three times, you will see a dramatic difference!

You will need:

One activated charcoal capsule

An old toothbrush you will save just for this purpose. The charcoal might stain the toothbrush!

Your favorite toothpaste.

Another toothbrush for the final brushing.

An old towel to place on your shoulders just in case you drip some charcoal. Don't wear your favorite nightie for this procedure!

Instructions For Whitening Teeth

Open one capsule of Activated Charcoal in a container. Add a small amount of water. Mix well, Dip the old toothbrush in the mixture, and brush your teeth. Leave the charcoal on your teeth for about 10 minutes. Brush your teeth really well with the good toothbrush and toothpaste. I use dental floss after wards, just in case some charcoal is up around the gum line. That could go unnoticed until you smile at someone!

You will definitely see your teeth are whiter after using the Activated Charcoal for only 3-4 times. Activated charcoal is odorless and tasteless, so aside from having temporarily black teeth, you won’t be able to tell you’ve got charcoal in your mouth. Any whitening agent can weaken your tooth enamel over time If you notice your teeth becoming more sensitive after using activated charcoal, cut down on brushing with it to just once or twice per week, or stop using it altogether.

Keep in mind that activated charcoal is a fine black powder. Although it won’t stain your skin, it can be messy to use, so keep a wet paper towel on hand for a quick clean-up in case you spill.

My granddaughter said she could definitely see her teeth were whiter after using the activated charcoal just this one time.

Other Benefits Of Using Activated Charcoal

Use to Rid Your Body of Toxins in Emergency Situations

Activated charcoal prevents the gastrointestinal absorption of a wide variety of drugs and toxins in emergency situations, and also increases their elimination even after they’ve been absorbed by the body. This includes an overdose of:

  • Pharmaceutical drugs such as acetaminophen or aspirin, opium, cocaine, and morphine

  • Toxins from pesticides (including DDT)

  • Mercury, lead, and other chemicals

Activated charcoal is most effective if it’s administered within the first hour of ingestion of the toxin.

If someone (or your pet) has ingested a toxic substance, the activated charcoal can inactivate the toxicity of the substance and will help them pass it much quicker than the body could on its own.

I think it is a good idea to keep some medical-grade activated charcoal in the home to use in the event of an emergency.

IF SOMEONE OR A PET IN YOUR FAMILY IS SUSPECTED OF SWALLOWING ANY TOXIC SUBSTANCE, CALL TO GET IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION!

I know people who would never go on a cruise or visit a foreign country without taking along some deactivated charcoal capsules in case of any stomach upset.

If beans or other foods cause you to be “gassy”, try taking just one capsule of Activated Charcoal for relief.

Use Activated Charcoal For Bee Stings And Insect Bites

To Relieve Bites and Bee Stings

Some people swear by using a mixture of activated charcoal , water and cornstarch can help eliminate the pain of bee stings and poison ivy outbreaks.

I have read online stories by people who claim their lives were saved by using this mixture to use on spider bites and even snake bites.

I would never use activated charcoal for any treatment in lieu of a qualified medical professional. Activated charcoal can be used in emergency situations where your life or the life of someone else is at stake, but this is only to buy you valuable time to get to an emergency room for qualified care.

Some People Use Activated Charcoal For Whole Body Detoxing

To Detox The Body

I cannot recommend detoxing the body with Activated Charcoal. I have read many articles where people claim they use it to rid their bodies of built up toxins.

Many claims have been written about how regular use of activated charcoal flushes accumulated toxins from the body and promotes healthy function of the digestive tract.

Regular users swear flushing out toxins brings benefits beyond improved overall health.

I will leave you to do your own research if you are interested in detoxing your body. I am only interested in enhancing my skin and whitening my teeth using Activated Charcoal.

Thank You, Granddaughter!

Thank you, Granddaughter for taking the time to try the Activated Charcoal facial, and for allowing me to take the photos I used for my article. I am so pleased you are satisfied with the outcome of both the facial and using the Activated Charcoal to whiten your teeth.

You expressed your delight when you looked at your teeth afterward.

More and more people are discovering Activated Charcoal to make their skin more beautiful, and their teeth whiter! I am very pleased with the results, and I think you will be too.

Are you willing to try Activated Charcoal capsules to enhance your skin, and to whiten your teeth?

See results
