What Humans Really Are: Pride, Ego, and Power

Updated on November 27, 2019

Man’s capability will always breakthrough all necessities. One can be great, powerful, and full of knowledge. There are no boundaries on what we can reach, even in the darkest of times we think of a way out, our minds formulate various escape routes and backup plans. It is like we are made to go beyond what we are capable of. When you think about the road to greatness, each day we take those little steps until we grow older and older. In every moment of our lives we set this one little goal and eventually multiplying it twice as much as we age year after year. There are no limits on what we can achieve. All you have to do is believe in yourself and see it through. Never quit and never surrender because great things are worth waiting for.

Humans are full of curiosity. It fuels our body and urge our will to go and seek for its answers. These things could be either good or bad, some of it could destroy an individual’s life utterly, while others could deliver a nation’s great discovery; just like our great scientists, philosophers, artists and many more. You see, a man’s life couldn’t be more interesting than it already is because we are never satisfied with just something average. Deep into our hearts we have this pride, ego and passion that pushes us beyond our comfort zones. Thomas Edison once said “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up”.

Humans are more complicated than what we see or think. Most of us pretend like we understand our own personalities but in reality we don’t. We have this nature of denying our own negative abilities by covering them up with our high and mighty ego. It is a man’s nature to automatically defend himself if he senses danger or negative impacts that involves him. It could either be consciously or subconsciously, once a certain individual is on a tight spot that ego kicks in and denying it wouldn’t do any better. We change a lot. It could be through the challenges that we’ve faced so far, it could be from religious spiritualism, it could be because of the lessons that we saw on other people’s life or it could be something that we realize on our own.

Changes in one’s behavior, personality or character is normal. As we grow older, we tend to face different trials and temptations in life. It could be financially or personally, we all have different responsibilities after all. We are humans not Gods. Nothing is permanent, we all change eventually through time. In our world today, true peace doesn’t even exist. Anywhere we look there will always be troubles, sadness, injustice, and chaotic environment. There are only a few good people left and each day more and more crimes are committed. Our planet is dying and a few years from now there won’t be enough food supply for the entire population.

We humans are the ones who are destroying the world and ourselves. We are ruining everything. A lot of people discriminate other ethnic races like; Asians, black Americans and third-world countries because they think that they are so great and nothing could ever trample them. You see, true peace will cease to exist in this world and total unfairness will arise. In reality, an individual’s authority will always be measured by power. If you have that asset the world is in your hands. You can mess up anyone’s life, steal other people’s resources, murder anyone that gets into your way and rule over it.

Now tell me, where is the respect, the liberty, the justice, the dignity, the harmony and true peace? Life couldn’t be any worse, every day we handle different objectives and tasks that was set into its unique level. Some people even resulted into taking their own lives because of the pain and frustrations that they carry with them all the step of the way. However, one should always remember that we are all in the same game just different levels, dealing with the same hell but different devils. Life can be complicated and unfair for the weak people but a mistake that makes you humble is better than an achievement that makes you arrogant.
