What Is Holding You Back?
If you're letting beliefs limit one aspect of your life, these limits and more quickly creep into other aspects of your life, and can hold you back from actually living- in the true sense of the word.
This is probably why people with little to no affiliations with religion or culture seem to have everything figured out in their lives, while people who place culture or religion at a paramount position in their lives seem confused and sometimes frustrated with life.
While I do not condemn culture and religion in their respective entireties, I ask, are you letting one or both of these concepts limit you? Are they holding you back from exploring, moving on, moving in, moving out, or moving away?
“If you're letting beliefs limit one aspect of your life, these limits and more quickly creep into other aspects of your life, and may be holding you back from actually living.”
Search yourself through and through, have you ever done or not done something simply because you were taught either by culture or religion not to? Your answer is most probably yes. Fair enough.
Now, when you find yourself in situations precarious to your personal growth and advancement, are you able to make good decisions on the next line of action to take or do you always feel the need to consult “someone more experienced”? Your answer is definitely also yes. Do you then see what I'm driving at? Your brain has been so accustomed to being held back by something (culture or religion), that you've either never learned to live independently, or may have forgotten how to.
A lot of us may never really learn to truly live until we abandon limiting beliefs and customs. Plus, I think at this time and age, if anyone chooses to let any religion or culture limit them, then it should be one that teaches love and respect for everyone irrespective of skin color, race, gender, height, educational background etc…, and nothing further.
