What is Inspiration? What Inspires You?

Updated on January 31, 2012

Inspiration Definition

Webster's definition of the word Inspiration:

a. Stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity.

b. The condition of being so stimulated.

2. An agency, such as a person or work of art, that moves the intellect or emotions or prompts action or invention.

3. Something, such as a sudden creative act or idea, that is inspired.

I like the definition; stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity. To inspire me is to move me, to stimulate my emotions, something that reaches my inner soul and makes me well up with tears of joy. I don't know what inspires you, but I know what inspires me. People! People inspire me, there are the people who make a difference in this world, and there are people that just exist, there are people who do things just because, and people who give to others unconditionally, without expecting anything in return.

The people that inspire me are the ones that give selflessly, the ones that contribute to the world that surrounds them, and they share their ideas and give answers to the mysteries that surround us and prove to us that nothing is impossible. I would like to share a bit of inspiration with you, maybe you can start your day today with this article and it will give you a whole new outlook on life, or at the least, it will put a smile on your face for the rest of the day.

Inspirational Stories

Ever watch a movie that inspired you so much, that it literally changed your life? When a story can make your heart race, your eyes widen with anticipation, or make your eyes well up with tears, it empowers you, it gives you hope and brings a realization to your dreams, the thought of; if they can do it, so can I, consumes you! I have a lot of stories I would love to share with you, but I'm only going to share three of my favorite. I watch these short videos whenever I feel like the world is closing in on me and have no hope, just self pity; I watch them when I need inspiration!

I think we all get like that sometimes, so I put together these stories of ordinary people doing extra ordinary things with their lives to give you hope, to let you know there are thing we can do that we don't even realize, we have powers far beyond what we think we are capable of doing. If YOU could only apply 3 principles to YOUR life and stick to them, YOU could be unstoppable. Those three principles are; focus, practice, and discipline, if YOU could master these three principles and included them in YOUR daily life, YOU WILL become the master of your destination!

Your Very Best

Inspirational Video #1

The first inspirational video is my all-time favorite, if you don't have time to watch all three, then you need to watch at least the first one called "Your Very Best" In this video, Brock, (the captain of the football team) gives up before the game even starts, he has no idea he has this much strength because he has never pushed himself to do his very best. What is inspiration? This video is inspiration, and my favorite part of the video is what Jeremy says to the coach at the end. If you're looking for inspiration, look no further than this video.

Jason McElway

Inspirational Video #2

This Inspirational video is about a young man named Jason McElway. Jason has a dream to be a basketball player; he has been the team manager on his high school basketball team since freshman year and has contributed his time to his teammates during practices and games, Jason likes to be part of his team. In the last quarter of last game of the season, the coach pointed to Jason and sent him onto the court, and the rest is history, grab the tissue box, and hold on, this inspirational video grabs your heart and tugs on it hard, enjoy.

Danny Macaskill

Inspirational Video #3

I chose this video because it pushes the limits of what is possible. Danny Macaskill is a BMX bike rider who does what the average kid on a bike would consider impossible. This inspirational video has been viewed over 28 million times, and for a good reason. Danny is a perfect example of someone who is focused and disciplined, he practices each and every day to be the very best at what he does, he is an inspiration to everyone, regardless whether you like BMX bike riding or not. I hope you enjoy his jaw dropping stunts and unprecedented skills as much as I do, and I hope he can add inspiration to your life, like he does to mine.

Inspirational Speakers

Inspirational speakers deliver the fuel to succeed, they hand us the keys to our success, and they change our lives forever one day at a time. We live in a time where we have the tools right at our finger tips 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, to succeed at everything and anything we do, from books and CD's, to MP3's and videos. We can get a college education on our commute to work at a fraction of the cost as a traditional course, but we decide to listen to talk radio, music or the news.

If you are looking to be inspired, here is the first thing you can try for just a week, it just might change your life forever. Every morning as soon as you get up, grab an inspirational book, an audio book, CD, video clip, MP3 player, or whatever you can get your hands on, for the first 15 minutes of your day. Don't check your email, watch the news, read the paper, or anything that can deliver bad news or steel your attention away from the task at hand, getting inspired. It will put you in a good mood for the rest of the day; it might even change the set of your sail.

Inspiration to Get In Shape

Need some Inspiration to get back in shape or to get back at the top of your game? To be healthy and fit is the best way to improve everything in your life. Exercising and eating healthy can skyrocket your energy levels and empower you to feel unstoppable. The best book I have ever read that inspired me to change my physical and mental health was, Body for LIFE by Bill Phillips. Body for life is an easy book to read, the success stories are incredibly inspiring, and it's an extremely easy plan to follow.

Just by making small adjustments in your everyday eating habits and exercise routines, can change the way you look and feel. I have tried gym memberships, P90X (it works, but you kill yourself, it's not for the average person in my opinion) and other systems that just are ether to extreme or are to rigorous to follow. Body for LIFE is just what it sounds like; Body for LIFE... and it is easy to follow. The best tip from the book is; exercise first thing in the morning before you have your coffee or breakfast, then wait 1 hour before you eat after you exercise.

This one extremely powerful tip will melt the fat off your body because your stomach is empty in the morning, so as you exercise, your body needs fuel, it will strip your stored body fat for fuel, that's why it's important not to eat, only drink water. One other great part of the program is you have a day off when you can relax, and eat anything you want; the reason why most diets fail is because your body craves the foods you gave up. Have you ever noticed the first 3 letters of Diet? That might give you a clue why diets don't work, lol.

Body for LIFE is the most down to earth book when it comes to getting into shape, it's not some crazy plan that has you buying all kinds of food you normally wouldn't buy. Don't take my word for it, see the reviews in at Amazon, there are over 1000 customer reviews and 600 of them are 5 stars. Just go buy the book, you won't be disappointed.

Inspiration to Me

I have been writing on Hubpages for 2 years, the first year I wrote 2 hubs, I just couldn't figure out what I wanted to write about. I am a Honda automotive technician by trade, and I have never really put pen to paper, except to sign my paycheck or to fill out a repair order. One day I read a hub from a guy named earneststhub,(may he rest in peace) and I realized, people needed help with their vehicles, so I started writing about common problems with vehicles. Earnestshub was an inspiration to me and now my hubs are read all over the world, I am helping people from other parts of the world, and that inspires me to write more.

I started out on Hubpages not knowing what to write about, now I write about subjects that I know could benefit other people. If you have something you want to write about, why don't you join Hubpages and start helping other people. I'm living proof that you don't have to be an expert writer to publish your work here on Hubpages, anyone can do it! If you have a natural ability to write short stories, poems, product reviews, fantasy, documentaries, biographies, or anything, sign up on Hubpages and start writing and get to know the people here, it's a great community and a lot of fun!

I encourage you to leave a comment and tell me what inspires you, we all have different views on life, and I'm curious to find out what inspires you, what moves you emotionally, what is it that makes your heart race and your eyes well up with tears.

If you know someone who could use some inspiration, share this article on Facebook, Twitter, or even email it to a friend, just click the button on top of the comment box. Thank you taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it.
