What is Mesothelioma and why it is so costly?

Updated on May 5, 2010

What is mesothelioma cancer?

Today, I found a hub request in the requests section of hubpages which is requested by one of our fellow hubber, Trsmd.

So here is the answer to this request.

Mesothelioma is rare form of cancer that occurs in people who have exposure to some carcinogenic-agents, for example asbestos. It invades and then degrades our body system over a course of few years.

One should contact his/her physician or a prominent mesothelioma surgeon if he/she has any signs or symptoms of mesothelioma.

Every worker working in asbestos related environment should undergo a physical examination and checkup for cancer as people working in asbestos filled environment are mostly prone to mesothelioma.

If someone founds mesothelioma detected on the x-ray reports or other imaging studies, he/she can contact a lawyer or an attorney who can investigate and detect and then file a lawsuit against the company with whom that person is working with if the company is using or has used asbestos in the past.

Why mesothelimoa treatment is so costly?

I would say mesothelioma and its treatment is too costly as it involves several lawsuits because of it being a work-related injury or disease and these suits can cost millions of dollars to the companies which have used asbestos as their raw material, for example construction companies or shipyards.

If some person in your family or your relatives or friends has got symptoms or signs which would suggest mesothelioma (CA) with having had prolonged or chronic exposure to the asbestos or you got know that they have previously worked in such companies workers of which get exposure to asbestos, please contact a good lawyer or an experienced attorney in your own area. The attorneys dealing with mesothelioma lawsuits inherit specialized skills and can help file a lawsuit and most of the times win the lawsuit in your favor against the companies using asbestos as there raw material.

I have answered one more hub question a months bakc on which you can get more details on mesothelioma . Here is the hub: How physicians or oncologists diagnose lung cancers such as mesotheliomas?

You are welcome Trsmd. Mesothelioma is a serious condition and should be dealt with upfront. Contacting a cancer doctor or oncologist is really helpful for getting cured early, as it is just like other cancers which cannot be treated when in third stage.
