When can money make you sick?

Updated on March 4, 2015

“If you want to know what God thinks of money, just look at the people he gave it to.”
Dorothy Parker

“Everyone wants to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”
Oprah Winfrey

“As much money and life as you could want! The two things most human beings would choose above all - the trouble is, humans do have a knack of choosing precisely those things that are worst for them.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

“While money can't buy happiness, it certainly lets you choose your own form of misery.”
Groucho Marx

“Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.”

What is Money?

Money is an integral part of humans and we cannot survive without it. We need money to eat, stay clothed. So, Man leads his life in such a way that he lives to earn and earns to live. That is usually the motto of everybody's life. We all are so content by the motto that retirement is far away from us. We cannot think about it since our needs have exceeded the supply.

Running after Money...

We are all running after the same thing in life and while running, we are also losing track of our values, our love, and our family. We hardly have time for them. Our children are growing up but we do not have time to spend with them since we are running after money, so that we can fulfill their desires and dreams and bring joy on their face but little do we realize that this will NOT make memories for them. The time spent with them, will help build their personality and give them stability in their future to come.

But, Time is flying...

Time is flying and so have the birds from our nest. We are old and now since we have the time and the money, we want people around us. We want all those people around us who loved us and cared for us, but since Time does not stand still, we have lost it. Those people have left our flock and have wandered elsewhere. What do we do with this money? Where do we go with this extra Time on our hands? How do we spend it?

So much money but, no honey!

This is the time, when all this money becomes a burden and can make us sick to the gut. We feel it most since, we have the Time to think about it and ponder over our mistakes. We feel the pinch and we feel it hard. And, we wish, we could make a U-Turn. But, unfortunately time does not wait for anybody and it does not stand still so, we have to make use of our present the best way so that, we do not repent it later.Money is best, IF enjoyed with company and if the man loses all his friends/relatives then how much can he spend on himself?

Ponder upon...

I am aware that reading an article and agreeing to it, makes that moment priceless but then when it comes to implementation, it takes a toll on us since, change of any sorts is difficult. Bringing a change in a lifestyle is very difficult and it needs dedication. But, if one is determined to enjoy our present with company and whatever money we have, then our future will not be bleak.

So, let us get up and JUST DO IT!

Well said indeed, Shalom. Busy lifestyle leads to working round the clock and not realizing the things we treasure the most...thanks for your valuable feedback.

      Appreciate it!

Totally agree and relate with you, Kelly.

I guess Destiny had something "better" and "useful" to show us. Had we not quit...we would not have joined hubpages and we are!

On a serious note...I totally agree with you. Thanks for your precious comment and I am happy that you agree with the above...Cheers!

Ruchira - so many people fall prey to the money chase when the kids are young. It's one of the reasons I stopped working when the kids were toddlers - I knew I was missing out on stuff money could not buy back:) so glad I did - I was in the rat race and working 60 hours each week...I gave up the salary and it was so worth it!!
