Yeast: A horrifying Experience in Your Mouth
This is one of the most annoying, disgusting, and disturbing infections. Make sure you see your doctor ASAP for treatment. Thrush (a fungal infection), more commonly seen in the mouths of infants called Oral Candidasis, is something that can happen to adults and teens for a number of reasons. It is a white chunky, pastey/patchy looking stuff in your mouth (however-can be found in other forms on the body.) It can be triggered by an STD infection, but can also be caused by the pre-mature use of antibiotics, such as Amoxicillin and Penicillin, and countless others. Sugar and various sweets, and salty foods can also cause this white, yeasty thrush.
This is a very uncomfortable medical issue to experience. It can take weeks and even months to get under control, and to feel like your normal self again. Breathing can become very difficult at times, however the yeast can be scraped with the popsicle stick, and your doctor can prescribe a Nystatin oral suspension, throat gargle/rinse to help ease the pain, and discomfort. However, this doesn’t cure anything, just touches on the symptoms. You can also take Benadryl to sleep, and will help you forget about the horrible feeling that is caking up your tongue, throat area, and esophagus lining. Eating plain yogurt can help put good bacteria in your system, and taking 2-3 acidophilus pills can also help your immune system regroup, it is a probiotic.
If you have experienced this once or more than once stay away from all antibiotics, forever; this will re-cur. Eat sugary foods in moderation. ALSO NOTE: If your doctor says they want to test you for HIV, do not be alarmed, in most cases you are having a reaction to what I have already mentioned. However, if you are having unprotected oral or vaginal sex, this could be a factor in your yeast condition. As most people are aware; since HIV and other immune related diseases and infections can cause all kinds of medical conditions that attack your system. Being tested is a good thing, just in case.
When someone has thrush, make sure eating utensils, and other shared items are clean. This can be spread. And I would also make sure you abstain from kissing.
