Why is Yoga Studio Etiquette an important component for a successful yoga session?
Hi K9keystrokes! Thank you for your question. The answer really depends on which point you are referring to. For example, if a pregnant person doesn't mention to her teacher that she is pregnant (and isn't obviously showing), the pregnant student might find herself in a class of deep twists, which are generally thought to be unsafe for pregnant women. On the other hand, having someone next to you with too much perfume on might make your session "unsuccessful" because the strong scent could be a distraction. I hope that helps! Thanks for your interest!
Yoga, even when practiced in a studio, is a very personal experience. You are there for the maintenance and strengthening of your mind, body and soul. Studio etiquette is designed to allow each individual practicing to achieve their goals.
Studio Etiquette is an important component for a successful yoga session because it establishes a set of rules. Though many people are practicing together using one space everyone has their own personalities and yogic ways. The rules are there to keep the environment of the studio safe as well as functional. Every different place has a different set of rules but they all stay on the basic theme of caring for others as well as yourself. To bring a number of people together is hard enough, but to establish order and also inspire a whole group as one is even more difficult. Rules allow a structure for the teacher and students to be able to learn, grow and feel safe. A home away from home - your own haven!
