Do you have advice on how to help children not be afraid to get shots or injections?
What is your best advice for children or even adults who have a fear of needles and shots. Is there anything you know of to make them feel better or less afraid, or even to get over the fear?
Unfortunately some children and also adults have developed this "White Coat or Needle fear."The only suggestion I have is to tell the child or the adult not to look at the needle or in the direction of the needle. Have the child distracted by something else, and before you know the shot is given -- it's all over.
The age old strategy is to make them look other way, give them a chocolate to eat and even before they realize what happened, tell them it's over, they just had the shot.
