What is Kawasaki Disease? What is it? How do you get it? What are the symptoms?
Kawasaki disease is usually found in children of Japanese and Korean descent. It most commonly affects children under the age of 5 and no one knows why it occurs. It is characaterized by high fever, redness in the eyes, rashes, cracked lips, swollen tongue, sore throat, swollen palms and swollen soles of the feet. If ignored, it can lead to heart disease.
An unknown problem with the immune system mostly affecting affecting children under 5 years old. It damages the heart and blood vessls, dilats coronary arteries which results in anerysm formation. There is no specific test for this disease, diagnosis is based on symptoms, supporting lab work. Decreased number of red blood cells, increased number of white blood cells, red tongue, inflamed pharynx.
