Would you choose delayed cord clamping or cord blood storage? Why?

Would you prefer the baby to get all the blood from the placenta, or would you store the blood against the future chance of your child getting sick? Why?

My wife and I chose to store some of the cord to help against any future health problems she may have. We did this primarily because my wife was adopted and we were unsure of family health problems on her side. I was only a couple hundred bucks to set up which is nothing compared to the hospital bill. It also is only a few bucks a month for us and we pay about ten years in advance.

Are you aware of what delayed cord clamping is?

I did not choose to store it for my future use. Rather I chose to donate it. I volunteered for 3 years on a peds bone marrow unit and, in my experience, there was much more success with cord blood than bone marrow for the kids needing transplants.
