Yes. Making people suffer who choose not to should never happen. Just like a DNR people should be able to draw up a contract stating when and if they would want to end their suffering. No one should be able to tell someone what to do with their body.
Yes, I believe it is every person's right to decide if they life is now more of a curse than a blessing and if those people don't have the means at their disposal to end their lives themselves then I believe doctor's should have the power to end their suffering for them. We put down other creatures whose pain is deemed too great to endure, why can we not decide to do this for ourselves in the same situation? We can extend a life now far further into the future than ever before, however, this doesn't always mean that we should.
Yes. It's already happening under the guise of "pain management" in many instances. Gradually a person is given more and more morphine during Hospice care until they drift away.
