Are others with Celiac Disease/gluten sensitivity affected by non-food products with gluten?
Do things like lip balm or shampoo give you flare-ups?
They give my friend flare ups. She had to stop visiting Amish country stores because of the wheat in the air, and must check all personal and cleaning (yes!) products for it.
Although clinical trials didn't give a strong evidence, inhaled gluten (and probably also contact with skin) may contribute to celiac disease non-responsiveness despite strict dietary gluten avoidance.
This is based only on results from small studies and observations.
