We, all or most, work, sleep, eat, and enjoy leisure time (Fun!!). That was listed as no particular priority. That is an individual kind of thing, right? And, it changes. In the adult world (15 – 64) that is meant by looking at the dynamics of having a work-life in contrast to retirement amongst other variables.

So, from the world view who has the most leisure time? From a study using 33 of the 38 nations of the OCED, the average is 293 minutes (4.9 hrs.) of leisure time. The highest nation is Norway at 368 min. (6.1 hrs.) whereas the lowest is Mexico at 172 min. (2.9 hrs.) That is a spread of 196 min. (3.2 hours) difference. The top ten are:

    1 Norway = 368 min. (6.1 hrs.)
    2 Greece = 341 min. (5.7 hrs.)
    3 Belgium = 339 min. (5.7 hrs.)
    4 Germany = 331 min. (5.5 hrs.)
    5 Finland = 331 min. (5.5 hrs.)
    6 Denmark = 329 min. (5.5 hrs.)
    7 Italy = 323 min. (5.4 hrs.)
    8 Sweden = 321 min (5.4 hrs.)
    9 Spain = 316 min (5.3 hrs.)
    10 Netherlands = 315 min. (5.3 hrs.)

    ********************
    The bottom ten are:
    24 Canada = 279 min. (4.7 hrs.)
    25 Japan = 278 min. (4.6 hrs.)
    26 Luxembourg = 276 min. (4.6 hrs.)
    27 Latvia = 269 min. (4.5 hrs.)
    28 S. Korea = 258 min. (4.3 hrs.)
    29 India = 254 min. (4.2 hrs.)
    30 Lithuania = 247 min. (4.1 hrs.)
    31 Portugal = 241 min. (4.0 hrs.)
    32 China (People's Republic) = 228 min. (3.8 hrs.)
    33 Mexico = 172 min. (2.9 hrs.)

And, for the UK they are ranked 15th at 306 min (5.1 hrs.). The US lands at #21 with 286 min (4.8 hrs.).

Can you relate to the most enjoyable leisure activity?

What is your least liked activity?

What is your most enjoyable activity (Fun!!)?

Were you surprised about the amount of leisure time nations have?

    Thoughts?

Work is actually "Fun!!" when self-directed and chosen for desired ends.
Work is not "Fun!!" when it is forced from without.

Self-chosen activities are based on one's own motivations, ambitions and interests. This freedom of personal will, to guide ones own life, is the source of Joy.

In a socialistic government people are not given self-choice and freedom of personal will.

"Fun!!" is not hanging out in a hot tub drinking umbrella-ed drinks.
Why? because when you get out you feel woozy, hot and weak.

"Fun!!" is not being dragged to the theater to watch something you do not want to see: such as out of date musicals or the opera, if you do not understand that type of music.

The enjoyment of these activities depend on very personal reasons and inner motivations for being enjoyed. The inner stimulus of joy and enjoyment/fun is very different for each individual. (Actually, none of these are on the top of my list.)

In a socialistic society, # 5 is especially enjoyed.

Reagan and Trump understand what makes for a percolating economy:
Love of work and facilitating the rewards of that work.
