How You Can Lose 5 Pounds In One Week

Updated on September 17, 2012

So you're probably wondering, “Is it really possible to lose 5 pounds in one week?" And the answer is, yes. I know based on personal experience that to lose five pounds in one week is completely possible, as long as you set your mind to it. The thought of actually being able to lose 5 pounds in one week may sound a bit overwhelming, but if you look at the whole process step by step and with determination and will power it doesn't have to be so hard.

Step #1 Drink up That Water

If you really would like to lose five pounds in one week, then drinking plenty of water is simply crucial. Not drinking enough water can lead to fatigue and sugar cravings, and that's the last thing anyone wants while they're dieting. Water is also a necessity for being able to absorb vitamins and minerals correctly in the body. Once again, if you do not have the proper amounts of vitamins and minerals then you are more likely to fail this weight loss goal.

I advise that you try drinking lots of nice icy cold water. In case you haven't heard, (although it may not be 'that' much, everything truly adds up) ice water increases the metabolism by making your body have to heat itself up. Whenever you have to increase your body heat you burn more calories, and burning more calories is just what you want to happen here.

Step #2 Hit the Pillows

In order for anyone to lose weight properly they have to get healthy amounts of sleep. If your one of those people, who does not get enough hours of sleep during the night, then you best start getting them now. Sleep is one of the most important things needed for your day to day life, but especially weight loss. Not having enough sleep can make you too tired and completely unmotivated to stick to your diet plan.

Proper sleep and food craving run hand and hand. The less sleep you have, the more food you crave. The better night's sleep you have the easier it is to control your food intake, simple as that. It's highly recommended that you hit the pillows a bit earlier and get the proper sleep you need.

Step #3 Exercise and Keep On Moving

As with any weight loss, exercise and keeping active more times than not, are vital in the process of losing weight, but since the goal here is to lose five pounds in one week, then exercise has to be %100 mandatory for about 6 of the 7 days. Your main objective should be primarily partaking in cardio workouts that amount to at least 60 minutes a day. You've got to get your heart going to burn those calories.

Step #4. Protein and Fiber

If you want to look healthy you've got to eat healthy. If you're truly serious about losing five pounds in one week, then you'll have to partake in a strict healthy diet. First you’ll need to include high amounts of lean proteins like egg whites, lean turkey, and fish in your diet plan. Fiber is also a necessity for proper weight loss, so high in fiber cereals make a great choice as a portion of your breakfast. Personally, I'm a big fan of GoLean Crunch when it comes to the high in fiber cereals.

Vegetables and fruits are the two other main foods groups you’ll want to consume a wide variety of in order to provide your body with the proper nutrients like vitamins and minerals. Vegetables and fruits heavily aid weight loss since they’re both overall high in fiber and low in fat.

Step #5. Limit the Sugar and White Flour

Besides fruits, it's vital that you limit how much sugar you consume since sugar is a dieters worst nightmare. Yes, it can be difficult to limit the amount of sugar you eat during your 7 day diet, but you simply cannot lose 5 pounds in a week if you're eating too many sugary foods like processed sweets and honey. This means, no fruit juice and strictly diet sodas.

Cut the out any white flour out of your diet and stick with the whole grains. Whole grains are a better choice over white flour since white flour has no nutritional value and will only fill your body with empty calories that are unable to satisfy your appetite. This is because white flour turns to sugar in your stomach. Another, reason to go whole grain over no grains is because many whole grains make a good source of fiber.

Lose 5 Pounds in One Week

If you're serious and dedicated about losing five pounds in one week, then you'll need to follow these five tips and examples that I have just explained in this blog here for you, and and you will have to limit your calorie intake to roughly 1,100 to 1,200 calories a day in order for you to lose 5 pounds in 1 week.
