Lose 50 pounds in 30 days?

I suggest this for folks under 30. I really don't think the Adkin's Diet is for people over 40. Its got quite a lot of cholesterol and fat content to work with, butt (Freudian slip) I will say it is a fantastic diet for a person that is in good health. Under 30, maybe to 45 and just overweight but still has quite a bit of energy and good health.

As a young student I played football for eight years and afterward was quite lethargic and hit the bars for a few years. I really was tired of the grind and ended up in the real world with a larger than desired gut and I'm not a beer drinker. Gin and tonic was my drink of choice along with Scotch and Water. I don't partake now. I have a twin brother (that's him in the picture on the right) that was always 50 to 100 pounds lighter than I. Of course I play ball more and all that but I think I would have been happy being thin too.

I had a grandmother that was 250 pounds and I guess I took after her and I don't care what the experts say, if someone in the family is large, someone is going to take after them. So there, I said it and I believe it. If I was not exercising I was overweight and that was a fact. I did and still do like to eat. It's probably my favorite past time next to...well, lets just say its my favorite pastime for all general purposes.

I received a number of injuries playing ball, snow skiiing, rugby, etc...and they take their toll on your body and you get to the stage where you just want to take it easy. Couch potato, as they say. That's where I was when I lost the weight.

Our ten year reunion was coming up and the guy in the middle of the picture, Mike, who was a really great friend of ours that we lost when his ship disappeared (merchant marine engineer) delivering goods to Egypt about the same time

Iran had our people as hostages, was the person that turned me onto the Adkin's Diet.

He had gone on a cruise to Singapore and other ports for three months and lost twenty five pounds on the diet and looked great. He had let his hair go long and being thin he just looked marvelous. So after seeing him I took up the Adkin's Diet and ordered a non apparatus workout program.

By non apparatus program I mean there was no weights or expensive equipment to use. I used chairs with a broomstick across the top to do pull ups, I would put my hands together with the forefingers and thumbs touching and in a 90 degree angle on the floor, with my butt in the air. I would do 3 sets of push ups which was wonderful for the triceps, core and legs. Another exercise, I would place my heels on a phone book for doing squats that was a fantastic exercise for the butt and thighs. I would lean against the wall with my back and go in an almost squat position and work the heck out of my thighs. This is also great for skiers.

I like to eat but you just have to crank er down to get serious and you will see real results in less than three weeks and physically you will see them earlier. Actually on a low carb diet you will start to burn off keytones through your breathing in just a few days of cutting out the carbs. That means you might want to keep some breath freshener or mouth wash with you to keep your breath fresh as a daisy.ts, ( at first ) ad, more cola, at least for a while. All that fizz goes right to the belly. Drink plenty of water. Some of us are so dehydrated and have been for so long that we have no taste for water. Water is not only necessary for hydretion but it lubricates the joints in your back and so on.

If you are getting a little older as I am now I will give you a little secret that will help you burn more calories. I also walk on a treadmill five days a week. The settings are 3.8 mph with a 13 degree angle and I can burn 300 calories in 32 minutes.

I know when I lost the weight I had more fun than I could stand. I still take care of myself. I am 59 now, I was 28 when I lost 50 lbs. in a month. Now at night I cover 24 flights of stairs, I do 90 sit ups and 3 sets of 20 leg lifts. It won't hurt you to do something. I promise you will feel better for it. You really have to do something my friends. Gino
