3 Meditation techniques-To lead a relaxed and joyful life

Updated on December 25, 2016

Meditation is bane for all stress. Through meditaion one discovers his true identity. Many think meditation is a way to control thoughts. Meditation had been practised by our ancestors, thousands of years back so they could raise the consciousness and lead a stressfull and relaxed lives.

There are many techniques for meditation. In fact more than 100 techniques. Yoga and naturotherapy also has some techniques which relaxes the mind. I will mention some techniques which are easy to follow by anybody and can be done according to one's time constraints.

Now why do we do meditaion? The purpose of doing meditaion is to increase the awareness levels of an individual. If you can know the root cause of stress, anger, depression, stammering etc. Then you yourself would know what should be done to manage them. Also meditation has been known to keep you in good mood most of the time.

Now here comes the three techniques of meditation.

1)Sit in a place and be aware of the breathe dont try to change the breathe. Just wait and watch the breathe as it comes in and goes out. Simultaneously be aware of the sounds you are hearing. Hear the sounds come and go. And finally watch the thoughts come and go. Do not get attached to one particular thought. Detachment is the key in this type of meditation, so dont get attached to anything. Just be aware of what is happening in that moment. When you do this often you would get a habit to be aware of every moment that you live. This gives joy- living every moment as it comes.

2)If you are finding difficult getting detached from the thoughts or if you are severely depressed then first you should calm and control your breathe. Controlling your breathe is the only means through which you can slow down your mind, your thoughts. The technique which is helpful in controlling the breathe is 'Pranayam', a technique from Yoga. It can be done by anybody, anywhere and any number of times.

Sit in a comfortable position with your spine erect. Now deeply inhale and hold the breathe for a second. Now block the right nostril with your thumb and exhale slowly only through your left nostril. Now again hold a second and inhale again through the left nostril deeply and slowly. Hold for a second and release the right nostril and exhale from the right nostril slowly, now blocking the left nostril with your forefinger. This is one complete cycle. Repeat as many times as you want. This completely relaxes you and you can actually control your mind.

3)Spiritual breathing:This is one of the most potent methods of meditation. It makes an individual recognize the roots, when he was in the womb. The spiritual center, for balance of life and emotions is near the navel from where you were attached to your mother. Awakening of this 'chakra' or center can make you emotionally strong and help in balancing of life.

Just sit in a relaxed, comfortable postion and deeply inhale slowly. Then exhale totally and chanting 'AUM'(aaa- oooo- uuu- mmmm) till your navel goes deep and u exhale totally. After few cycles you can feel the vibration at your navel region. This is a very good sign of your chakras getting opened.

Practise these chakras to be relaxed all the time, remain joyful, happy and satisfied with whatever you have got.

God bless!!!
