Oral Irrigators

The first water flosser I evaluated demonstrated noteworthy performance. It included a carrying pouch with seven jet nozzles, a large water reservoir, and adjustable water pressure ranging from 30 to 125 PSI, allowing for efficient removal of debris between teeth.

However, its considerable size and reliance on external power made it less practical for daily use; each morning required retrieving the device from storage, placing it on the counter, and connecting it to an outlet. Consequently, the unit was eventually set aside and forgotten.

Subsequent reviews have involved various water flossers, most of which featured built-in rechargeable batteries. Each successive model offered improvements in size and usability.

This review focuses on the Oclean A10 AirPump oral irrigator.

Description

The A10 AirPump flosser features a design reminiscent of a bar of soap. When equipped with its nozzle and filled with water, the device weighs approximately 6.28 ounces. This two-tone green appliance measures 2.7 inches in width, 1.26 inches in thickness, and stands 6.4 inches high with the nozzle attached.

A USB-C charging port is conveniently located at the base. The left side houses a multifunctional power button that serves as both the on/off switch and mode selector, while a water level window is situated on the right. The top section includes an opening for water refilling and for mounting the jet nozzle. An LED indicator ring on the front panel displays either the current mode or the power status.

The flosser utilizes a pump mechanism to deliver bursts of air and water through its nozzle. In normal mode, it operates at approximately 170 bursts per minute; in soft mode, 120 bursts per minute; and in massage mode, 95 bursts per minute.

The water tank has a capacity of 1.56 fluid ounces and can be quickly replenished, providing about 50 seconds of operation in normal mode.

Included accessories are a charging cable, a standard nozzle, and an orthodontic nozzle.

Technology

This system combines air pressure and water to remove food residues between teeth. The air content can be as high as 98 percent, providing effective but gentle cleaning.

Water Jet Nozzles

A standard and an orthodontal nozzle are included. The orthodontal nozzle is recommended for those with braces and dental appliances.

Charging

I plugged one end of the supplied cable into the USB-A output of my UGREEN phone charger, and the other end into the flosser’s USB-C input.

Once the device was charged, the indicator ring turned white.

Testing the A10 AirPump Water Flosser

I filled the device with warm tap water and inserted its standard nozzle. Then I pushed the nozzle into my mouth, lodging its tip against the crevice between the two left-most pair of teeth. After I pushed the edge-mounted power button, a continuous stream of air-mixed water bursts emitted from the nozzle. Rapidly, I switch from tooth gap to tooth gap. At the 50-second mark, the flosser’s water tank emptied.

I took a few seconds to refill the tank and then ran the flosser around my gum line. Since there was still water remaining in the tank, I flossed the gaps between my teeth a second time.

During this cleaning, I noticed several tiny peanut chunks—the result of my midnight peanut butter and M&M snack—were dislodged from between my teeth. I’d used my electric toothbrush before flossing, but it had been unable to reach this debris.

Cleanup was a snap. I emptied the water tank and then removed and rinsed the jet nozzle.

Overall Impression

In a face-to-face competition, my old oral irrigator with its large water tank and adjustable 30-125 Psi output wins. However, the A10, which boasts air-water burst technology, does a good job dislodging debris from my teeth without a continuous and sloppy stream of water gushing from my mouth.

Because of its size and shape, the device is easy to hold, and its nozzle maneuvers well within my mouth. And, when the water tank empties, it’s a simple matter to open the device’s lid and refill it from my bathroom taps.

This flosser is small enough to fit into any purse. More importantly, it is the first oral irrigator that I can stand upright with its nozzle attached in my bathroom cupboard.

If you are looking for a practical, easy-to-use water flosser that can be quickly cleaned, I recommend the Ocean A10 AirPump.

Oclean is including a free travel-sized Oclean Ease electric toothbrush with this purchase.
