The Art of Being “Okay” When You’re Not Really Okay
We inhabit a world where everyone responds, “I’m fine.”
But, inside, most people are just trying to keep from collapsing on public.
We smile while on screens, respond to messages in emojis, post stories that appear brighter than our days – and we somehow convince the whole world we are fine.
But inside, we are all engaged in an invisible war.
The reality is that “I’m fine” has become an art.
It means showing up when you’re tired.
It means laughing when you want to cry.
It means texting people, “I’m fine,” because sharing the chaos inside your head requires more than you would like to give.
And maybe that is okay – maybe survival does not ever have to look pretty.
Maybe it is simply enough to be breathing during the chaos.
Here is what I take-away:
You do not have to be strong all the time.
You don’t have to heal quickly.
You don’t have to justify you are ok.
Some days, simply existing is enough.
Some days, getting out of bed is applause-worthy.
And some days your silence speaks volumes.
So here’s to the quiet warriors – the ones who keep moving forward when no one is watching.
The ones who smile, not because they’re happy,
But because they still have hope.
And maybe that’s what truly being “okay” means—
Not pretending that life’s perfect,
But learning to carry your storms
With a little bit of grace.
